Those of us NOT selling off your 3rd gens, which is your favorite?

Why would anyone sell a third generation Smith?

The only time I do is to fund a new 3rd gen (and half the time I never get around to selling it anyways, which explains my growing collection... :D).

I only have one, my 4516 no dash, but they will have to pry it from my old, arthritic, cold dead hands. Just sayin'.

For right now I only have the 3913,If something else comes along at a Good price in .45 I may buy another I am not much on the .40 Guns I prefer either a 9 or .45

I have a 4053 I can't bring myself to sell. 8 rounds of .40, smooth DAO trigger, hits point of aim every time. Not too big for concealed carry, relatively thin, never fails to function. It's a .40 in a .45 frame, not a .40 in a 9mm frame so I feel free to get the heaviest loads I can.
It's my only .40. I don't need a .40. But I just can't let it go.
As to parts - it's overbuilt so I don't worry about it breaking. If something does break, and I can't get parts, well then what remains are valuable parts others will want!

4006 hands down

God Himself would have to tell me to sell that gun

Ditto:
Since it's my primary carry gun.
I also have a complete set of spare parts should the need ever arise.
These came off a police confiscated example before the frame was destroyed.

I only have one, and I just got it yesterday! I took the plunge and got one of those beat-to-hell ex-police 5906s from Bud's. It's definitely been rode hard and put up wet, but it's in better shape than I had feared it might be, save for one thing; the extractor is chipped. Not great, but I've got a few possible sources for replacements. Besides, I haven't even shot it yet. Maybe it'll run fine anyway....?

6906 - 2 ea
4513TSW-45-Tactical - 2 ea/6 rd mag
4513TSW-45-Tactical - Rail/7 rd mag

Easy for me! I also only have 1... a 5906. Had it about a month. Got it on a trade. Sure is better to me than a GP100! Had Hogue Grips on it. Back to stock now, which feel good to me. At 61 yrs. old my 1st Gen 3. Had been looking off and on for years. I enjoy shooting it. Bob

These are the ones I'm hanging on to...10mm. My first was the 1006 w/adj sights in March of 1990. I also have two Bar-Sto conversion barrels for it 40S&W and 9x25Dillon. Holding on for BadManOne to finish my other barrels...

The last one I purchased was a 2nd S&W1086, this was great because the one in the picture above has the "BLACK MIM" trigger and hammer, so I bought this because it has has the stainless steel trigger and hammer.

It's a toss up. Either my 645 or my FBI 1076. Both get carried but as sit here tonight typing this My 645 is on the table beside me so I guess I will say "Ole Reliable" my 645 which I've had for 27 years now I believe.

I picked up a 6906 from Buds and fell in love with it. Threw my shield in the safe never to carry again. Why O why did S&W stop making these guns. The plasic stuff they make now sucks when compared to the older all metal autos. Yes I know the cost of production and so on but come on Smith should be above the Glocks and the rest of the tuperwear guns.

The super accurate 5" 5906 probably has to be my favorite, but the little 908 is a solid second choice: it is a hard working mule and more accurate than I am. Don't know if we will ever sell any of our 9mm 3rd Gens. And if I ever hold one of the alloy framed 4 1/4" TDA 45's in my greedy hands, it may come home.

I did trade a sweet 3913 once, but that was for a tuned 66-2 snubbie so I sorta broke even.

Bob....just a heads up on lingo....referring to a 3rd. gen as a Gen3 can get your official membership card revoked:p.....but since you have only been a member a month...you can get a 1 time waiver...:D
