Under $50 IWB Shield Holster?

Thanks for this link. Never heard of these guys either. The "Navigator" looks like an excellent holster.

Yea, I like the adjustable canted and retention... Too bad he was too little too late.

In fact, I like that 4 Corners Concealment holster so good, I just ordered one from their eBay page. $46 total including shipping. Great deal for what looks like a great holster.

Good deal :) Post pics and your thoughts when you get it. We should be getting ours around the same time.

Yeah, those two are pretty much a must-have for me. I could get by without the adjustable cant on the PJ Holster because it can be customized to your preference and because of how thin that holster's profile is. But I agree: I'd rather have a separate clip than a simple fold in the Kydex.

Adjustable retention is something I'm not comfortable with not having. That seems like such a personal preference, I wouldn't want to have it either slightly too much or slightly too little compared to what is comfortable for me. You can heat-and-bend Kydex to customize that a bit, but then you're getting into heating-and-bending Kydex, which is not preferred for me (like adjusting the Kydex PJ Holster loop over time).

Cheers!

I don't see the Old Faithful build-your-own on their site anymore. But they may offer it if you call. I molded my own shell, and have been using that for my Shield since May, 2012.

CRTGear on facebook may have IWB under $50.

I have been using and am very satisfied with the Galco STO652 IWB holster for my Shield. Bought it about two years ago for $29.95 plus tax at a not so local gun shop. Haven't found a reason to buy another holster for my Shield.

I tried the N82 original holster, but didn't like it. I returned it and got a refund -- excellent customer service. I wrote them a letter indicating why I didn't like it, to hopefully help them expand their product line in the future. For what it's worth, I'll post that here:

After much thought, I find that it's most comfortable simply sticking my (empty) Shield into my waistband. I find that I can walk around, sit, and move around the house and not even feel the gun. So, while I haven't yet bought a holster, I'm shopping for many of the excellent super-slim Kydex holsters like from PJ Holster, On Your 6, Overwatch, Custom Carry Concepts, etc. I will follow this thread with great interest to see what others are using. For example, I had not heard of On Your 6 before this thread. They look like great holsters.

A lot of people feel this way, the bare minimum as possible. In this case, it doesn't get better than this...

Versacarry® Semi-Auto Model Conceal and Carry IWB Holster - Fits Most .380,9mm,.40, and .45 Caliber Hand Guns

There are reviews and videos about it all over the place. They sell them on Amazon and Academy Sports too.

Here's a video of some guy saying some stuff...

I had an Alien gear for the Shield and returned it. Way too big for this little gun. Drop an extra 20.00 and get the N82 Pro.
Best one out there.

You can look at Remora holsters or Desantis.
I got the new Aliengear Cloak 2 and find it very uncomfortable compared to my Galco King-Tuk. Finding a holster you may like is very subjective. What fits one person may torture another.

+1 on both Remora & Desantis!

I would try The Holster Store Pro Carry Holsters. Ordered one recently and got it in about 10 days. Nicely made.

To me, that's still too much holster. I'm not quite the minimalist of a Versacarry, but something in-between, like my kydex Foxx Trapp.

The beauty of all of this is ... there are many options for many tastes!

I'm returning the AlienGear holster I bought because it just doesn't fit right on my hip. It sticks out in back and prints in all but the small of my back and I don't carry there.

It looks good but not as nice fitting as the GalcoKing-Tuk which just about disappears inside my belt.

I've seen a lot of people (including myself) that are not happy with the fit or feel of the Alien Gear holsters since they started producing the Neoprene model. I wonder if the leather backed model is still of a good quality or if it's just and individual taste situation and a coincidence?

I did a lot of research when I bought my Shield. I didn't want to be one of those people that end up with a drawer full of holsters for one gun. Well, I am on my way there! I think most people are the same way. I think everyone is looking for that perfect holster (especially IWB) that is everything in one package. Maybe some people get lucky and find it right away, but I think it takes time for most...and then they might still never find a perfect one.

There's many reasons for this, individual taste, carry style, gun size, climate, body shape, materials, etc.... The list goes on and on. I think the best possible situation would be able to personally see and try each holster all in one place to see what works best. However, I've not found anywhere that makes that possible. Too many manufacturers with too many offerings to possibly gather into just one place.

And thus...we end up with the drawer full of holsters that we must purchase before we can even try them.

So, my point is, unless you are one of those lucky few that just happens to get it right on the first try, or, you just aren't very picky, be prepared to clear out some drawer space because you are going to need it.

A lot of holster makers, particularly the smaller shops, are starting to get that and offer a period of time to try and return it for a no quibble money back or exchange. I do that, and it works well. I don't mind telling you I have had a couple in every hundred come back for various reasons. Sometimes it's just realizing they didn't want a certain size sweat guard, sometimes it's climate and they realized plastic wasn't working for them. Once or twice it's just plain the style didn't work.

Nice thing with smaller shops is we can tailer quite a bit. Wether it's raising the standard ride height, aggressive cant or cross draw... it can be done.

Agree, a lot is personal pref. Just pointed out for me this is the most comfortable IWB by a large margin. Nothing even close. Every one I know who tries one feels the same way.

Just sharing my experience. :)

I ordered an AlienGear holster, but I'm tired of waiting and just might cancel my order. I would love to know what under $50 mass produced holster you all are carrying your shield's in? Please post pics, reviews, and links if at all possible TY.

Like you, I am about ready to cancel my Alien Gear Holster order also. SEVEN WEEKS is ridiculous!!!!!! Don't know how they expect to stay in business..................

Yeah, that is a bit much material, particularly to end up wrapped around the grip and top of the slide as it starts to age.

Yes, if the N82 holster's backing shape were more customized to the gun, I think it would have fit me a lot better. But really, the biggest disappointment to me was how difficult it was to get a grip on the gun quickly, without a combat cut on the backer pad. I suppose the comfort level of the holster taken by itself was good, but it's not a viable holster if I can't draw my weapon predictably every time.

I do hope they expand their product line. Their material quality and customer service are both top-notch.

I normally use a Celtic IWB holster, leather and kydex. Also use a Blade-Tech Revolution which is pretty comfortable, all kydex. They are running a promo-code sale now.

I had a N82 Pro holster. It was very comfortable to wear but the draw was difficult. The gun has to be twisted slightly to release it. I pulled the holster out several times during test draws.
