as I mentioned back in august, a friend of mine got elected sheriff. well, when he took over Monday, his office was locked, his official vehicle was locked(both with the keys inside) and the computers were locked with unknown passwords. how high school can you get. cost them $300.00 to get everything unlocked and he computers fixed. many files erased from the computer but they can probably be retrieved. the former sheriff could not be reached for comment by the local news media(really?) lee
Lee--As others have pointed out this is all criminal conduct. TN specifically includes state property in it's criminal mischief/Vandalism statute:
Vandalism. One who "knowingly causes damage to or the destruction of any real or personal property of another or of the state, the United States, any county, city, or town knowing that the person does not have the owner's effective consent" is guilty of vandalism. T.C.A. § 39-14-408.
If damage/repairs/expense is over $500 it is a Class E Felony under TN law.
