keltec PMR 30

LGS has one! Priced a bit over MSRP. Extremely cool gun, I just can't think of practical use to justify buying it. Nail in the coffin is the ammo costs the same as 9 mm or 40. For that matter much more than reloading 44 magnum.
Somebody come up with a reason!

I wouldn't buy one for MSRP or more, but a buddy has one, it runs well and is fun to plink with. I wouldn't call it a serious firearm though, nor the poor man's FN 5.7 they advertise it as. Id consider it for fun at sub-MSRP especially if the RMR-30 ever got off the ground.

I have never handled one but I figured it would make a great self defense gun. I have many elderly friends, especially older women, who need a handgun for self defense, but they have weak hands. Many can not cycle a slide or shoot a double action revolver. I figured one of these would be easy to work the slide and has 30 rounds so the need to reload would be a mute point. Trigger pull should be light enough and the guns weight is easy to hold. Without recoil the elderly should be able to handle quite accurately and with confidence.

I have one and the one time I shot at a public range it drew a lot of attention.Just over a pound fully loaded it's a blast to shoot.

It's a very accurate gun in the right hands.Even in the wrong hands it's a formidable weapon.You certainly wont shoot a brick every weekend with prices like they are but sometimes you just can't stop.It is definitely more suited for varmints than weekend shooting.

It's the first firearm I bought before the hi-capacity ban went through and it's a keeper in my opinion.

I have fired one and it is surprisingly accurate, lightweight and the mag seems to last forever before it runs dry. It would make a good truck gun, house gun or even CCW. BUT I will never pay retail or even close for a Keltec. If anyone thinks they want one, better start grabbing 22 WMR every time you see a box.

I have a KEL TEC PMR 30. It's a unique fun little gun. The first thing you will notice when picking one up is how light it is. It weighs 13.6oz's unloaded and around 19 oz's when fully loaded with 30 rounds in the mag. It kind of feels (and looks) like one of those air soft toy pistols. The pistol comes with two magazines and a hard case. I got it about 2 years ago and don't remember what I paid for it.

It's fun to shoot and the trigger is pretty good too. The sights are high visibility fiber optics, the front being green and rear is red/orange. Recoil is manageable and not bad even with the light weight of the gun. The magazine release is in a strange place at the bottom back of the mag well. That's about the only thing I don't like about it, however it functions fine with no problems.

The 22mag cartridge makes a big bang, shoots fire balls and gets a lot of attention at the range.

I have no regrets buying it....

MSRP has been so low as to be a joke. I haven't seen one for sale used for under $600 for the last 2 years. I would go for it.

I picked 1 up at my LGS back in early summer. I paid $480 OTD and that was for the bronze finished model. It wasn't my first rodeo with the PMR. The performance is astounding. It gets really hot, but I contribute a lot of that to the rapid, fun-style shooting I did. If you can get it, do it. Yout won't regret it, as long as, you can find ammo to feed it!!!!!

Now, the patient wait for ammo to show up in the big box stores. LGS has some but I may let this one sit NIB for a while. Or not.....

Also noticed that Keltec sells a barrel with flash suppressor, $114.

I've had mine about a year. Bought as a birthday gift for me by my wife, but she got it at MSRP. Ive really enjoyed it so far but as with all of you guys the ammo shortage is preventing me from shooting it as much as I'd like. Really accurate, VERY loud, but nice handling , and no feeding or ejection issues. I carry it on my daily dog walks (because of the weight) in a very rural area with a large coyote population. They are always trying to entice the dogs to play or chase. The PMR has a bit more bite than them...

The PMR-30 is very easy to take down for cleaning.Read the manual.It tells you what ammo Keltec recommends or doesn't.Keep it clean and oiled and it will serve you well.

Physics not repealed, the gun recoils, noticeably.
It takes considerable force to rack the slide.
The 15 rounds i shot were 100% reliable, the only marks on the ejected cases were the indents of the firing pin.
I bullseye shot at 25 yds, no ammo dumps. Accuracy wasn't spectacular, I split blame half on me getting used to a gun with a really different feel, half on the ammo. I'm sure the vmax is great in a rifle but it's not meant for short barrel. Wind could have opened opened the groups a bit too.
I will try to get some 40-45 gr shells and Critical Defense if I can find it.

Why would you have issues with paying over $300 for a rimfire? Does it take less resources to manufacture a rimfire? If it takes the same resources to manufacture a rimfire as it does a centerfire, I never understood why rimfires were cheaper in the first place.

Any firearm is worth as much as one is willing to pay for it. That being said I paid over MRSP. It was during the "scare" and the PMR-30 was as scarce as hen's teeth.

My collection of firearms in 22LR/22WMR consists of a Ruger SP101,Ruger MKIII,Model 17-4,Heritage,two Henry's and of course the PMR-30.

For me the PMR-30 is a good way to either start your range shooting or end it.It's a thrill to shoot and can quickly draw a crowd.

They thought it out and got it right, for SD or vermin, it is accurate out of the revolvers I have not tried the rifle yet. As for 22 magnum ammo it has been available at Cabela's prob 50 out of the last 60 days so feeding it should not be a problem. Be safe,

I've been monitoring cabelas the last few days. I want to accumulate a brick's worth of the same thing, though, not a mix of whatever.
I shot it today in a semi enclosed stall ( brick walls on both sides, dirt berm, open top and entrance. It's loud alright. I thought I was shooting the 10 mm lol. No malfunctions so far and the empties land in a fairly tight pattern.
