I think I was the only one with a revolver of any sort in my class.
I qualified with a 3" 624. The holster that came with it works well.
Not sure how I would go about trying to conceal my Dan Wesson which is about the same size as an X frame.

You have to qualify with a particular gun, or with the same gun you want to carry? Where is this? Just curious.
In IL we don't have to qualify with a specific weapon so I used my S&W 586 4".
Here us my target shot DA at 5, 7, and 10 yards using my rapid fire cadence(I'm a bullseye shooter). That's 30 shots btw.

Don't know where Bobthegod is from but here in kalifornia .The local sheriff usually issues the concealed weapons permits .By state law it requires a 16 hour class then usually the sheriff requires you to qualify with each gun you have on your permit and it is usually limted to 3 guns .This is after you have submitted an application for a CCW and the sherif has deemed you have "good moral caricature" what ever that is .And did I mention there is no time limit on how long the sheriff can take to review you application and background check . I have been waiting for 6 months for a rely

That's interesting. In Texas when I qualified some years ago I rented an SA and the CHL had SA on it. Now it does not because you can qualify with either SA or Revolver. Only restriction on the handgun is it must be a 32 caliber or above.
Or it has to be above 32 caliber I cannot remember. When
I renewed recently did not have to retest and it took about
14 days or less to get the new CHL in the mail. California seems like has a lot of hoops to jump through.
Yep I'm from California. We jump through many hoops, classes, qualifying, backrounds, Blood pressure, mothers maiden name, credit check, blood alcohol. The they usually turn you down. Unless your of good moral character.......Like ME

Again in kalifornia the sheriff or local law enforcement is king when it comes to granting ccw's . Until recently. Most sheriffs issued only a few. Permits . The county of San Francisco has 2 permits issued some of the rural counties may have 3,000 to 4,000 permits issued . They old reson for denial was"no just cause " meening he did not think you had a reson to have one . But thanks to calguns and NRA there was a 9th district court decision that in nut shell says "self defense is just cause" . It is still working its wAy through the courts and some sheriffs have stared to issue under that decision .Othes are giving us the one finger wave . Or like my sheriff 6 months after we applied still have not heard from him . They don't call it the left coast for nothing .

"Shall Issue" settles the whole thing. Here in AZ you take the class, you qualify, you pass the background check, you get the permit within 90 days (usually 60). Permits are issued by the State Department of Public Safety. You are not second guessed or judged.
In my home state and the four others I received permits in...you pay for your shall issue permit and carry what you please. While my experience is limited to SD, GA, MS and AL... I do think its a good system.
Thankfully Alaska did not require a permit or worry about what you carried.

Back in the mid-70's I carried a 6 1/2" M29 in a shoulder holster. The only way I carried it off (I am a rather short person) was by wearing a full length sheepskin coat. I stopped doing so rather quickly because that coat was so danged hot I could not stand it.

In IL the person is licensed, not the firearm. You can qualify with any firearm, and carry any firearm as long as you complete all the training and pass the qualification.
If I recall correctly we were required (Michigan) to hit the paper plate most of the time, 100 rounds to be fired. I did it with my Ruger .22LR single action. Took me a lot longer to reload than the students using double stack semi auto's!

Here in NH, one goes to the local PD, fills out an application and writes a check for $10. They have 2 weeks max. NH is shall issue. A felony conviction, adjudicated mental illness, drug addiction or a domestic violence conviction will keep you from getting the permit. Yiogo
