I would have said a Model 38 but I see someone is selling a Model 38 Airweight. Maybe it was always an Airweight and I'm right but, if not, and there was an all steel version, what was the Model number? If the M38 was it please advise.

Model 49 is all steel version

Correct info above. The .38 Bodyguard was an exception for S & W in that the Airweight version was made before the steel model 49 version.
