Just announced for the US market. The Taurus 817 is a 7-shot 38 Special. I'm curious how these compare to the size of the Taurus 82 or a standard K-frame S&W. I'd also love for S&W to enter this sort of capacity in this size class. A 7-shot, snub, airweight K-frame in 32 H&R Magnum, or a scandium one in 327 Federal Magnum, would be fantastic.

I was pleased enough with the Taurus 856 Executive Grade I had for a little while and have since sold. I might have to give these a look when they hit stores. No hammer lock hole either by the looks of it, which is always nice.

I don't have one, but in order to get 7 rounds of 38 Special or 357 Magnum into a cylinder, it would have to be the size of a S&W L-frame cylinder. It's physically impossible to get 7 rounds of 38 or 357 into a K-frame sized cylinder.

Did ANY revolver manufacturer besides S&W have the action lock on it?
I do like the plain Jane looks on the gun. I have a thread here about the 8-shot .22 Magnum, Model 942M Ultra-Lite, that I just bought last week. The color combos of the metal are a little different, but the guns are very similar at 1st glance. (Tomorrow, weather permitting, perhaps I'll get to shoot it.) I like the size with the 2" barrel. I dislike the stocks held on with a pin on mine, but I can't whine about it on a $350 gun.

If I recall correctly a couple other manufacturers offered built in locks (probably due to concern over possible government regulations). The ones I remember where in the grip and locked the mainspring. I believe Taurus and Charter had these though it's been years since I saw one so my memory of who may be faulty.

Yes, Taurus was on the lock bandwagon too, but theirs was on the hammer, not through the side plate.

When it shows up on Handgun Hero we should be able to get an accurate comparison to both K & L-frames...? If they ever have revolvers available?

Cheers?
