Nickel 17-3 Sells for $11,005.00

I think there were 15 made. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the nicest and most complete in existence. Bruce, if you're reading and want a refund for the one I sold you, I bring the cash right over. :)

There are now 19 total documented 16 with the target options
and 3 with standard trigger and hammer and Magna stocks.

First of all, VERY nice and extremely scarce Nickel K22 :)

As far as value is concerned, you may very well be correct that the gun is a good long term investment but we don't know the future so no one can say for certain. That's why when we collectors converse between one-another about whether or not someone overpaid or underpaid, we are talking today's prices, not in the future.

I've never heard anyone say, "Boy, you stole that gun!!!! 20 years from now you'll double your money or better!!!!"

Or "you should feel ashamed of yourself for what you paid, you know that gun will be worth 3x times that when you sell it down the road."

Is the Nickel K22 worth $11,000 today, that's debatable but I guess it was worth that to you and one other guy ;)

I do know you are now a member of the small group of factory nickel K22 owners and you have made every single one of them VERY happy :)
Exactly... Well said.. Thank you..

I collected hand blown soda bottles from Hawaii back in the
80's & 90's, and even dug up a couple of very rare ones while
I lived there. I learned as a collector that you need to grab
the really rare stuff when it becomes available, because you
may not see one for a very long time. Rarity plus condition
plus demand drives prices. That nickel 17-3 should hold it's
value for the near future. Just my .02 cents. :)

True Value

The true value of something is what someone is willing to pay for it. That is what makes collecting fun. I am happy for the person who outbid the over than 180 bidders that wanted that gun. Life is too short. If one can afford to buy whatever pleases them GOD bless them.

Thank you Sir! Back at ya!

At those kinda prices someone soon will be making and marking them in their basement...

I saw it happen with Colt's and Winchesters before that.

Now, who in the world would want a non-factory nickel K22?:p

BTW, the one being discussed in the posts above is really nice! Congrats to the new owner.

What blew me away was it shipped to Maryland Police Supply in Baltimore. I've known the family for years. Went to high school with the two sons and knew their father who started the company. My family bought stuff at MPS for years. Wish I could have dropped 11K just to walk in with it for fun.

There must be a bit more to the story than we know - for someone to spend that kind of money on a K22. Never thought someone would go THAT high!

For the guy that is tickled by "rare"-that's the only thing.
Ridiculous premium in my view,as one could create a fresh one based on a NIB blued version for under 2k,and the only real difference would be the letter and box color.

Let me tip my hat to both the winnng bidder AND the second-place finisher. You guys both knew what the gun was worth and pursued it to the limits of your assessment of its value to you. As someone who has occasionally dropped way more money on an uncommon model than almost everybody else thought reasonable, I completely understand how you viewed this specimen and what motivated you.

But PLEASE don't show any interest in the guns that catch my eye when I start buying again! :)
