Performance Center M&P 9 Pro5 Core Ported

Brnie,

I run a Blade-Tech DOH/Sting Ray Holster, on my double alpha belt, primarily use this for steel challenge. Both my 9L ported, and 9L pro fit this holster which allows me to shoot either production or open divisions with the same setup.

Good luck

Does anyone own or tried shooting this new product? If so, how do you like the pistol's performance? I am interested in buying one of this but I need more info about this firearm. I read the firearm's descriptions published by Smith Wesson and also watched reviews posted in YouTube. However, I would like to hear from owners as well. Visited several gun ranges but they do not have one available for rent just test it.

Many of the reviews on You Tube are paid presentations and not really a review.

I have my eye on the 5 inch ported 9mm and hope to get one soon.

Is this also called a "9L Performance Center"? There is a local guy selling one, and I was wondering about it as I had never seen or heard of it......

You might call it a "9L Performance Center" as it is a full size Striker Fire (Double Action) Pistol. The official model name as described by Smith & Wesson is "M&P9 Performance Center Ported." SKU 10098.

That's what the guy has it listed as. I did some quick research and it looks like a very sweet shooter. I emailed him about it and if he still has it, I may hold off getting the M&P 45c I've been wanting and snag this instead. ;)

As I previously posted, I got mine the other day and had no regrets. I love it. Go for it; you would not know what you are missing until you have one of this.

I got to put some round thru the new M&P! It was 30*F so only got 50 thru it, but I am happy with it. I was also working with my wife and her new AR, so I couldn't completely dedicate my time to the M&P.

Delta point pro

I found out from a Leopold rep that the pro will not fit the core pistols because the dimensions are different. They are working on an adaptor plate but no date as of now.

I bought my PC ported, sku 10098, 5 inch on Saturday. This is my first gun in about 20 years and I'm super stoked to go try it out tonight. I have ordered a Vortex Razor 3 MOA with the Vortex plate from my freind Clayton at Strong Side Tactical. I've never installed and sighted optics on a pistol before. From the sound of it, this will be a very fun learning experience for me.

I am enjoying the Trijicon RMR 3.25 MOA sight on my Performance Center Ported 9L. For anyone thinking about changing out the trigger to an Apex then just know that a little extra work is required on the new PC models. First, the trigger stop screw needs to be backed out a bit to provide enough clearance for the new trigger. This is done by removing the backstrap and using a long hex screw driver go in from behind. Secondly, the sear cam loop may need to be opened up a bit to change the timing of when the sear is engaged. This will allow the trigger to fully travel.

When shooting my gun for the 1st time yesterday, I was wanting a lighter, smoother trigger. I haven't done any research on triggers yet. What are the benefits of the Apex trigger?

No take up and a much cleaner break. The tactile feel is superior over the stock hinge. It also drops the trigger pull down to 4 or 5lbs (if you use the green "duty" spring). I have mine set to 4lbs and love it. They say the performance center sear is better than the standard model but I couldn't tell much difference. Where as with the Apex, you can really tell the difference.

That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I ordered the Apex trigger kit with the aluminum trigger. I will be having the guys at the Eagle Gun ranget install it, using the green spring.
Thank you RJ.

Yeah, that's the one I have too. The aluminum forward set sear trigger. Please post again after you try it out.

9mm Ported/Red Dot

Picked up my 5" ported 9mm about a month ago. Had read several reviews and needed to try it next to my 9mm Pro with Apex trigger. First dry fire I was perplexed...7lbs trigger pull. Sent back to S&W and received it back the following week. 4.85lbs avg trigger pull. Noticeably softer shooting than my non ported pro. Really like the taller sights and the adjustable reset allows some fine tuning. I sill prefer the Apex trigger "pull" to the performance center. Only better pull I have is a few of my 1911's. I've been looking hard for a red dot but am getting conflicting info on which ones will truly co-witness. Vortex Venom, Trijicon RMR and Deltapoint seem to be catching my eye but would sure appreciate any additional input.

The Trijicon RMR 06 I have will truly co-witness. Its a really nice optic. And not cheap either.
