1964-2014...The .41 Magnum

...so has anyone out there bought anything new .41 wise???

Bob

I tried to get a Virginian Dragoon Buntline but it got too expensive for me. There also have been a few customs that have piqued my interest on the auction sites but lately all my .41 funds have been diverted to upgrading our home theater equipment....too many hobbies, too little money.

What an incredible thread. I finally replaced my long gone 58 of the 70's last year. Great shooter.

There are so many great guns here.

...5"???? Or how about something different like 4.5 or 6.5..... Check on the rollmarks on the barrel to see what may look centered or too off centered...

I have a 657 and 57 with the 8 3/8" barrels and they are fun shooters....

The silly Factory didn't even get the barrel length right on the box label................
Oh!........ wait........ they only shipped one or two, so we can forgive the label because there was no product code for a 10-5/8...........

Sounds as if you own at least half of them. Be nice to have a custom monster presentation case for showtime. Is that box longer than the usual 8 3/8" box or the same?

Awesome guns.

Thank you Bob, 41 is my favorite caliber and I bet over half my custom projects have been 41s over the years.

Has anyone traded a 3" 657 because he thought he needed something else?? Arrrrrrggg when will I learn?

Been there and done that... When I was a dealer I bought one of the first ones available back in 1986....later sold it as the barrel was "too short".

Back about 2003 lucked into THREE of them in a two week span and bought all of them. Two were in excellent condition and one had been to Mag-Na-Port and had some surface scuffs... Two had the original Combat grips and one the later flat sided Combats.

The nicest one had the flat sided grips so I traded grips with the originals on the Mag-Na-Port gun and sold it for what I had into it ($350.00) to RGS here on the forums who is a GREAT friend. The other nice one went on GunBroker and I doubled my money... The scuffed up Mag-Na-Ported one I still have....

RGS's gun when it had the original flat sided Coambats...

The Mag-Na-Ported gun I kept...the smaller Combats actually fit my hand better that the originals... It also didn't have a cylinder release and I bought one of the later MIM ones for it...

It's a slippery slope...

After starting with a 4" Nickel 57-1 (Post #175) and really enjoying loading for and shooting this caliber, I added another .41.

Another 4" but this time a blued 57 No Dash (S835XXX 1980ish). Here are a couple of pictures:

It locks up tight, no end shake and the timing is spot on. Appears to have been fired sparingly but the target trigger has been either converted or modified to be smooth. Not a big deal from my perspective.

Oh, I could learn to be jealous real quick! Great looking handguns.

I'll have to figure out this image thing to post a couple of my own.

TA DA: Now I've got it figured out...I think. The top one is my Mod. 57 in .41. The other is a 19. I did this photo a few years ago to illustrate a piece in the old Gun Week. Still have both guns.
