Not long ago I posted about picking up a 3953 locally. I had carried one in the past quite a bit, but that gun went down the road due to finances years ago. Since then I really hadn't seen one. Not long after that I got a message from forum member Muzzleblast. He told me he noticed my post and had a 3953 himself. He also said he made holsters and was wondering if I would be interested in looking at one he made. Now you never know how something like that might go, but his terms were he would send me the holster, and if I liked it and decided to keep it, then I should donate $30 to the forum. That's right. Payment for the holster if I liked it would be a donation to this forum.

He sent me a pic of the unfinished holster and I could tell right away he was no jackleg holster maker. I said OK. Well, today the holster came. I have carried a gun every day for the past 30 or so years. I usually carried them in Sparks or Kramer holsters although as a starving college student in the beginning I carried in an Uncle Mikes. Those days are long gone though and I am a holster snob and can tell you the difference in a good holster and a great holster are little details. Angles, the cant, how tight the gun clings to your body, tight belt slots, a lot of little things that add up into a holster that never moves and makes it so you can hardly tell you are carrying a gun.

This holster has all that attention to detail. It shows a lot of real craftsmanship. It is also lightweight. The stitching, finish, the finish on the edges, the fit, the ride, everything about this holster is just first rate. Plus it is really beautiful.

If you ever have a chance to get a holster from Muzzleblast I would jump at the opportunity. So without further adieu here is the holster. As you can see it is appropriate for carry on Sunday and special occasions. And what a guy Muzzleblast is to create such a fine piece of equipment and then only ask for a donation to the board in return! Thanks again Gordon!

Dave, thank you very much for you kind words. I hope the holster serves you well.

I appreciate quality gunleather. I am amazed at the artful work of forum members like Eaglestroker, 05CarbonDRZ, Wyatt Burp, Lobo and others. I make concealment holsters as a hobby because I enjoy doing it. I also enjoy this forum and appreciate the contributions of the members. I have been wanting to give something back. When Dave posted that he was looking for a 3953 holster it looked like a good opportunity to benefit the forum. I would like to continue to make a few "forum benefit holsters" from time to time. But, I wouldn't want to turn my hobby into a job.

I made contact and am working with him on one for my 642. Thanks for introducing us to "Muzzleblast." I made the Forum donation as requested.

I received my new J-frame and G19 holsters from Muzzleblast yesterday and they are beauties. The craftsmanship is second to none, and reflects a person who deeply cares about his work. I've told him that he needs to go into business full time so that more people can take advantage of his "art."

TNDave,
I really like it, and have a question.
Is the side of the holster that goes against your body contoured to the shape of the pistol or is it flat? Can't tell from the picture?

Thanks,
Hal

edit: The more I look, it appears to be contoured. No need to reply.

Beautiful holsters...all of them.

Tell you what I like about 'em...they're molded, but not over-the-top molded, not boned to death. We've all seen holsters so molded, looks like you could pull the trigger through the leather. Not these, though...they look just right to me.
