I was in Academy today buying something for my daughter and had to wait by the service desk (and we all know what is kept up there) while they were checking to see if the item was in stock in the back. I looked over at where there is usually a bunch of Aguila Super Colibri with no gunpowder, and MAYBE a few boxes of some of the good stuff of the same brand, and noticed that there were a bunch of slightly bigger green boxes sitting there as well. I have actually never seen Remington Golden Bullets in stock anywhere until today So I didn't know what they were.
I have plenty of 22LR and didn't plan on buying any more for a very long time so I guess that's why I didn't really pay attention at first. I had to talk to the guy at the podium at the entrance for a few minutes and for some reason my curiosity got the better of me. I looked over at the ammo again and there were only like three left. At that moment I saw a customer that was actually in the line next to the customer service desk see the green boxes and he instantly had the look of a kid at the sight of whats under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. He asked for one. Then after a few more minutes of waiting there was one left.
I decided I'd go look and see what all the fuss was about so I walked around to check it out. It was $525 rounds for $20? No wonder! I believe in karma and refuse to become a hoarder but I couldn't help but buy the last one because I have a friend that is definitely 100% against paying the current "normal" price for 22lr. So, I knew I could sell it to him for what I paid for it and he's always saying he needs some. It feels good to help out a friend and potentially keep it out of the hands of a scumbag price gouger or one of those people that just hogs it all up for themselves even though they already have a two year supply.
