Hi folks,
I picked up this Mod 67-1 about a month ago at my LGS. I got a
service holster and two speed loaders with the case. All for $260. I believe its a retired service revolver based on the APD stamp on the frame and the included accessories. I have around 200 rounds through it and it functions flawlessly. Hope you enjoy the pics.

You did quite well! I have a 67 no dash from 1973. It has the all stainless rear sight. Had it a few years. Paid $375, or $395 for it. Still considered that a bargain for a great shooter!
WELCOME to the FORUM! Bob

Thank you guys. I think it is addictive as last week at the same shop they had a 686 no dash 6" barrel (serial AJFXXXX). Much better condition than this 67.Needless to say after inspection and a small down payment, its on layaway. Ill post when I get it home. Does $650 sound right for it?

If nice and clean , I would say that is a fair price for a 686 no dash. Should come with wood s&w target grips.
I suppose since you are already buying your second s&w revolver it may be too late to warn you about the slippery slope.

Twig.

You had better listen to these guys. You can't stop once you start buying Smith's. My FFL has already gotten tired of emailing his FFL. I know another member who is local, he started about 7 years ago, and he's up over 100. But then, he's not married. This should have a 12 step program.

I like those Pachmayr grips, too. I have them on a M-66-3 and think they're one of the best, most practical grip styles yet.

Good point. Shame that so many deride Pachs as "Goodyears."
We installed them on our hard-kickers so we could control them with magnum loads for service use. Perfect grip for a 66.

Well, they're at least prime Pirellis, not just Goodyears! :)

Hmmm...pity that Pachmayr hasn't got a calendar like Pirelli does.

If you compare the oval shape of the Pachmayr Presentation grip with that of a Colt DA revolver, it may seem familiar. I really like the Presentation on S&W's, or the discontinued Uncle Mike's.

Presentations also go well on Ruger's older Security-Six line of revolvers, as do Ruger's own wood and rubber grips. But the GP-100 works best for me in Pach. Grippers.

For J-frames, I like the Pach. Presentation Compac.

These "Goodyears" fit most hands better than do S&W factory grips and handle recoil better. I like them quite a bit better than I do Hogues, although other hands may vary.

I think this M-67 will handle most revolver needs well, although I'd sure rather have .357 capability for larger animals or really determined opponents who may be on PCP or similar drugs. Wisely chosen Plus P ammo today solves most of the stopping failures once common with the .38 Special.

An additional advantage to rubber grips is that they don't get dented or scratched from contact with cars, door frames, walls, etc. or from the sidewalk if you're engaged in a scuffle.

I'd love to own grips by Keith Brown and others. They're beautiful, and Walter Roper's designs are very good. But on a service arm, they'll likely get scuffed or worse. And Magnum recoil is just made easier with the rubber grips or stocks.

I agree with Kaaskop 49. Don't deride those Pachmayr grips until you try them on guns carried daily. I even like the looks of them on stainless guns, which I prefer.

Does that M-67 also have the nice Red Ramp front sight, or is it that red nail polish or paint on the sight? Either gives a nice sight picture. I use bright orange nail polish on front sights that don't come with red inserts.

Welcome to the forum!

That is perhaps the best S&W ever made, well, it's certainly one of the best ever made.

It's the only one you'll ever need. So don't worry about buying a bunch more of them...;)

Again, welcome to the forum!

The Pachmayr Gripper is the only rubber grip I will own. Tried the Professionals and the Hogues. The uncle Mikes were good too. Theyook great on a stainless gun

Another fine choice! I paid $580 for mine a couple of years ago. Shipping was extra. Very accurate even in my hands! You will enjoy it. Bob

Mine is a 67-1 bought on gunbroker last year for $250 Buy it Now. Auction was 10 minutes old when I bought it at buy it now price. Excellent condition. One of the best deals I ever got.

That's an awesome price, my first revolver was also a 67-1 my Dad bought for me at a gun show back in 2003. It's stamped for the Dallas/Ft. Worth Dept. of Safety, I was told this is basically the Airport Police Dept. I still have it and will never part with it, I used to take that gun and a 500 round half case of cheap reloads or CCI Blazer to the outdoor range and shoot all of it up.......I really miss cheap .38.....that 67-1 shoots like a laser, makes me look good:) It has a buggered up strain screw, probably from a cop backing it out for range quals but it has never failed to go bang, so I'll keep it in there.

Back when I first got it I knew 0 about revolvers, I remember finally getting the guts to pop the sideplate to clean it out, I thought I was looking at the inside of a Swiss watch. I just wiped it out, put some Kroil in there and haven't messed with it since.
