Whch pens do you carry?

Parker Jotter for pens. Refills are at Staples.

I still have the GRAPH 500 Pentel PG505 0.5mm mechanical pencil I bought in the fall of 1987. Along with the Staedtler Mars RASOR 527 30 tube eraser purchased at the same time. That mechanical pencil and eraser have done hundreds of basketball game scorebooks,

I used the Bic stick pens in bulk package when I was working as I lost many bending down in my work and I mainly just used them for taking notes on the small pad of paper always in my pocket with pen, small screwdriver and maybe some other odds and ends. I used Levi jean shirts as they had two good pockets for stuff.
Now that I'm retired I grab what ever pen I can find around the house and usually those are freebies or some pen I have no clue where it came from.
I haven't used a fountain pen since grade school and always did seem to get ink on myself then. I do remember though during those days someone came out with a plastic cartridge full of ink that you screwed into their fountain pen where it pieced the plastic tube. It did save you having to have an ink bottle and was a little less messy too.
I do have a buddy on another forum that makes fountain pens with some exotic wood he has found. Beautiful pens and he does sell some too but rather pricey due to the work involved and materials.
On my desk in front of me is an old ink bottle and quill pen. I don't know just how old they are but does look like an awkward way to have to write.
Problem is today kids aren't taught cursor anymore and some can barely print. May be a day soon when pen and paper is replaced altogether.

I use any cheap disposable ones available at the Chinese Superstore called:Walmart

Walmart is evil in a big box. The few times I went there because all the other choices in X small town went of business I felt like I needed a shower when I left. Right before they lined me for the firing squad for committing treason against my fellow American workers for giving that cesspool of global misery my money. [emoji12]

Glad you're happy with the cheap pens though, to each their own, that's part of what makes this country great.

I use ball points and now like the gel cartridges. I have several pens in strategic locations;
1. At the desk in my office: Parker. Mostly used for paying bills.
2. In a drawer next to my computer: big, fat, black Cross. Always something I have to note down when using the computer.
3. Kitchen counter: Parker. Mostly used for grocery lists but occasionally I have to make notes or I'll forget.
4. Gun Room: Cross. Used for recording data on handloads. I have three feet of shelf with nothing but reloading data dating back to the 50s.
5. Gun show bag: Cross. Have a little notebook and jot down things like serial numbes, prices, etc. Also have phone numbers of local motels and restaurants.
6. Range bag: old, disreputable ball point. Would like a new one when this one drops dead, but it's got to be built like a tank to withstand very high temperatures and blowing sand. Any suggestions?
7. Car: Gimmie pen "Whitten Inn" (a nice chain of moels, incidently). I carry a little notebook in the car, addresses and phone numbers, mostly. So far I don't carry anything in the truck.

When I was working, I had an old Cross with the chrome mostly worn off so the brass body showed. I found if I took a nice pen to work school registrations, it often disappeared. I used that ugly Cross for quite a few years, and nobody wanted it enough to steal it. Finally it broke, and I almost cried throwing it away.

Here are a few that I have made. The really nice pen is one that I would expect Caj to pull out of his briefcase!:D No I am not going to send it to you either!:D It is made from Brazilian Cherry.

You Sir are a smart man, I totally agree that pen will write at over 100fsw if you use Dura-rite Paper which is also made in America by rite in the rain. The Parker website has spacepen cartridges for most pens in many colors and fine point to bold point. The ball is made of Tungsten.

I have a Fisher Space Pen in the bugout/emergency bag in my car. May get another to carry.

There's an old gold-plated Cross pen-and-pencil set around here somewhere. Haven't seen it in years.

When I carry a pen, which is infrequently these days, it's a Pilot Precise fine point with black ink. I have several around my apartment if needed.

What pens? Jim at your suggestion I've kept a Parker T-Ball Jotter in the car five or so years now. At the house I use a large Cross brand roller ball, that was a graduation gift, from the Lovely and Charming. She hoped I would use it to fill out job applications, silly girl;).

I love good pens....

But I don't carry them. I'll lose them or make a mess out of them. I like writing with fountain pens, but they leak so easily. Now a good 'cheap' pen is fine, what matters most to me is that it is smooth, black and has a medium point. Fine points are good for small writing, but they are scratchier. Of course with the new technology over the last 10-20 years, they are all probably smooth. I make a mess with a course pen. My handwriting is and always has been AWFUL. Thank goodness for computers.

PS: Our son gave his mother a pen he turned on a lathe. Prized possession.

For the last 5 or so years I've been carrying a Cross gold plated (not gold filled). I go to a bunch of antique sales and found this one with the Winchester logo on the pocket clip. Pretty cool. So I retired the other one I had, that with a Sorg Paper logo. I like the running horse Winchester used.

And I have a fallback plan. If I somehow damage the clip on this one, I'll just use the top off the pencil. I found the one I've got in the only place I go shopping. A gun show! So keep your eyes open, they do turn up from time to time. I don't have any lofty things I need to sign these days. Maybe endorse a check or two, but I prefer to operate with cash so I don't write many checks. And its good to hear of others who use napkins as their primary writing surface.

Someday I may find a solid gold Cross pen. I know it'll be expensive, but I don't care. I have a stockpile of sterling silver ones. Back when I worked, I used those. These days I'm not really trying to impress anyone.

None. But I have to say so with 14 characters or more.

Make my own... Here is the selection I have made for my wife. Every time I spin one in a different color, she wants one. I can spin ball point, roller ball or fountain pen.

A have a Dress Pen, an entry level Mont Blanc, a few $6 stainless Zebra F-701s that double as my tackykewl neck stickers. But the ones I carry everyday at work and use the most are the bulk Pilot and Uni-ball pens, they write smoothly and they are supplied to me for my job.

I mostly rely on the Bic and Papermate models, and lose them on a regular basis. I'm not allowed to touch my wife's calligraphy pens. There are couple of Cross pens and pencils in the briefcase for signing peace treaties and the like.
However, I have a favorite that never fails to start a conversation, and has inspired many a smile and chuckle over the years. Leaving my doctor's office one day, I saw it in the hand of his office assistant, and demanded it on the spot. She giggled and found two more in the desk and handed them all to me. I gave one to my shooting buddy and to this day we're cracking jokes like, "You get a free pen with the 50 pack" and showing off our Viagra pens every chance we get.

It just so happens that I work for a American made pen company based in Wake Forest NC.
We produce a line of fine quality American made pens with Germany Steel and Gold nibs. we also offer a smattering of Ballpoints and rollerballs.

We offer a German made Parker style Ballpoint refill that is air charged like the Fisher Refill that will fit all styles of Parker Ballpoints, called the ultra guide 1000.

We also offer a line of hand ground nibs, these nibs are ground by a Japanese Nib master. In total we offer 42 nib options to fit our pens raging from Needlepoint to a 1.9 music nib including Stubs and Cursive Italic with a few Calligraphy nibs thrown in for good measure.

I am the repair person and set most of the nibs, a skill not easily learned but easy to do once you learn the dark art. I have been in the better pen business in one form or another for close to 25 years.

So what do I write with out of my 100 or so pens? A cap activated Parker 75 Ballpoint in sterling silver, one of our M07 Dara Ballpoints in Black and Silver and in Fountain Pens my favorite is the Franklin-Christoph, M03 Iterum in Emerald Green with a Fine Cursive italic nib.

In this world a good Fountain pen can easily be the cost of S&W.

We use a slightly different marketing approach, we make and we sell em direct, mostly online or at Pen Show (just like guns shows but for pens). We do not go the wholesale route, this allows us to keep our prices down.

This is us if you want to take a look Franklin-Christoph Fine Writing - Writing Instruments

Oh and in my spare time I collect S&W revolvers.
