Just One Pen

I am old fashioned. A quill and inkwell.

Pfft...please...

A keyboard :) Arthritis has rendered actually writing something legible a difficult task. The other day I had to fill out a form at the pharmacist for my flu shot after driving for an hour. Hands were cramped and the form had teeny spaces. Almost had to ask for somebody to take dictation.

It's been a while since I have used a pen. The places I go that ask for my signature provide me with a pen or electronic stylus to use. All my correspondence is now done using the binary code...even my crossword puzzles.

All you that have a fondness for writing implements I say "good for you".

My brother was left handed. The side of his left palm telegraphed what color ink he used that day.

I use a Space Pen for daily use, but I prefer a pile of ball points with back-up!

I’ve been carrying the same Papermate Profile pen over 30 years. As long as I can get refills I’ll keep carrying it. They’re good pens, too bad they quit making them nearly 20 years ago. Besides my vintage Papermate I’m partial to Pilot click pens and the Zebra stainless steel pen.

Arch College flashback...

My favorite college pen. It made more money for me than grad student stipends. Rent money, Ruger Security Six, reloading equipment, Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag, and Ruger Mk II target pistol 22 LR. OOOOHHHHHH!!!! the joys of married college life.

EDIT: Used these inking pens with a LeRoy lettering set preparing charts and graphs for graduate engineering students working on Masters and a few PhD theses. Student pay was $2.50 per hour. Grad students paid $5 per hour. It was pay me or do it themselves. I found out that "Graduation Fever" causes you to want the task done and don't care about the cost. My last job cost $93 (estimated $100), grad student was happy, and I went to K-Mart and bought a Marlin lever action 1894 44 mag rifle for $87. The most inaccurate firearm I have ever owned.

I use the Precise V7 Rolling Ball el cheapo throwaways, fine, blue ink. I don’t care to write in black. I’ve had several decent fountain pens over the years but don’t bother with them anymore. To me, they’re just more trouble than they’re worth.

How? Did you sell articles written with it? I did, but typed the articles before submitting them.

I did enjoy endorsing editors' paychecks.
