I have been debating on my next purchase for a little while now so I thought I would see everyone's opinions. The mp9c would be $400 with night sights and the glock would be $420. Both will be purchased new. Which would you buy and why? Thank!

Love my M&P9C

well, I have never handled a Glock 19, but I have had my M&P9C for a couple of years. I've put a little more than 1500 flawlessly functioning rounds through it. From 115 grain aluminum case Blazer to 147 grain Federal HP's. It has fed all of them and is very pleasant to shoot. I currently carry the Federal 147's in it. I love it!

Cheers,

Rick

I've had a G19 since back in 1990 and I've tried the M&P9c a few times.
While the 9c feels nicer to hold, I feel my old G19 feels better to shoot, with a better Factory trigger.

I recommend you find someone locally that has either the G19, or 9c to try (range rental, people at the range that will let you try theirs, etc) before buying and see which one YOU think feels better to shoot.

Of course... Apex trigger kits will make the 9C's trigger better, but that will run you an extra $60-$100+, depending on which kit you buy... But I prefer buying a pistol I don't HAVE to upgrade as soon as I buy it.
Just my opinion.
TRY before you Buy.

Though I'm a M&P fan boy, if I had to choose between those two I'd go with the Glock given their size similarity and the fact that the 19 holds 15+1 and the 9c 10+1.

However, I had a G22 for years and found it difficult and uncomfortable to carry concealed. I got rid of it after I got my Shield which is (in my humble opinion) much easier to conceal and more comfortable to carry. So, if you are looking for a carry gun I'd recommend the Shield. If you are looking for a house gun I'd recommend a full size M&P. (I loved my Shield so much I traded off the G22 I was never going to carry again along with my G21 and its 2x4 grip for my 5" Pro.)

But if you're just wanting a new gun both are great guns, go for it!

The Glock is what I would and did choose. It's the original, the M&P is the copy. I really dislike the segmented trigger on M&P. There are a lot more trigger set-up options with the Glock and it is the more proven design being used by military and police around the world and the majority of Police here in U.S. It's extremely hard to get a Glock to rust, but I still see issues with M&P's although not nearly as bad as when they first came out. 33 round magazine option for the Glock. You might consider the Glock 26 as well.

I prefer the G19 as it has a a grip that allows a full purchase with all fingers, and a higher magazine capacity. Note that the full size M&P is, for all intents and purposes, the same length and thickness as a G19, but it is a little taller, owing to its 17 round mag, as opposed to the 15 round mag of the G19.

I have both. The 9c is new, but I carried the G19 daily for 3 years until I bought my Shield, and now the 9c. The G19 is a good gun, but I prefer the ergonomics of the Smith. Time will tell if the G19 stays in the safe, on the hip, or gets sent down the road.

I have owned and carried both. I stuck with the 19. Gen 4 specifically. I like the backstraps and more so the beaver tail.

It's personal preference really. The 19 is slightly larger but not by much. Greater capacity and better out of the box trigger usually. And it's seems as though every store has a better selection of parts and accessories for Glock.

Nothing against the 9c, mine ran like a sewing machine. I just like the 19 better.

I wanted a G19 gen 4 for a long time. I have very small hands for my size and found it was a great fit, until I discovered the Shield lol. Nothing feels better to me than my shield. If I could afford one is still buy a G19 but the shields price was attractive and the ergonomics were great. Like someone above mentioned, find someone who has them both or do a range rental and try both out. Everyone will have a different opinion on the subject but only you can tell which is better for yourself. Good luck!

I've never handled a S&W M&P but I have a Gen 2 G19 that I bought
new. I think the 19 is Glock's best model. It seems to be just right
and it seems that most owners love theirs. I also have a Gen 3 mod 26
that is easier to conceal but doesn't fit my hand as well. I suggest you
grab the G19 for $420.

I have a 9c and actually shot a G19 last week. It was the first glock I've handled. They are almost the same size guns. I thought the 9c had the better trigger and did not like the grip angle on the G19. That said, I did shoot the glock very well.
You need to shoot them both before deciding which one you want.

I feel like the new factory trigger on M&P really makes the race pretty close. I prefer the ergonomics of the M&P and factory sights. However, I did change mine out to night sights. Both really good prices though, must be LEO?

I had a Glock 23 but gave it to my son before we had a concealed carry law & after I retired from armed security. Now I have an M&P40C as well as a full size M&P40. The grip is better on the M&P with a pinky extension & feels great with a full size 15 round with an X-Grip inserted.

I'd have to give the edge to the M&P but I feel you can't go wrong with either. I shoot equally as well with either & both are very reliable after many rounds through them. Never had an FTF or FTE with any ammo I've put through them.

At that price I doubt it is a Gen 4....probably a gen3. I believe there is a min for a new gen4 that Glock demands selling for and I believe it is $529. There are a lot of Glock people that do not like the Gen 4 because of the dual recoil spring assembly Glock went to. The feel is different on the grip, and that is a vastly different feel for it in my opinion. There are more accessories for the gen3 due to the obvious length of time the gen 3 has been around.
