Found this nice 10-5 at a decent price and couldn't pass it up ( who can pass up a standard barreled 10 anyway ? ) Dates to 1965 and mechanically sound as a rock. These things are one of the remaining consistently "good deals" in a fine S&W revolver. Let's see some of yours :):)

Please excuse the "sun-flash". That was not included in the deal:D

Here's mine, a Model 10-6 heavy barrel:

A great field revolver and carry piece.

The Model 10's Stainless brother, Model 64 heavy barrel:

This particular revolver is one I have carried in the field for years, canoeing, hiking and hunting. Has since been appropriated by my wife for her carry piece...

I found this one "NIB" at my LGS and I just could not resist... It dates to 1968... I love the "history" of this model and this example's DOB... MLK, RFK, Chicago Democratic convention and riots in Baltimore, Chicago, D.C.... Actually, it seems it's time may have come again!

I was looking at one the other day - heavy barrel, looked like it was in about 90% condition priced at $410. I already have a 15-5 and didn't have the cash to spare so I passed on it.

There are some who feel a 10 (or 64) is a must-have handgun. IMO, they are not wrong. Yesterday, I took a mint 2" 10-5 to the range, a gun I have not shot in maybe 3 years. I ran it through my informal pie plate drills and was amazed how well it handled and how easily it shot. I cleared the drills more easily than I do with my beloved Js.

My 2 4" HB casino 64s ( Hi policerevolvercollector!) almost shoot themselves in these drills. Their bull barrels make double taps routine. My pencil barrel 64 is a good compromise between ballistics and ease of carry/shooting.

I am perhaps fortunate that these guns almost never appear in the valley. Obtaining more 10s/64s might make shooting a job, rather than a pleasure.

Here a few of my favorites....10-8 round butt.....10-5 nickel 5"......Pre-10 victory. All with elk stag stocks
