US Government behind Windows 10 upgrade

They have satellites that x-ray your house anyway, so no big deal.
They can read the label on your pants, but it is sometimes backwards cause it depends on which way you're facin.
I try to buy underwear and jeans with labels in exactly the same spot just to mess with em. You know- like a double exposure.
Reckon a lead roofing company would prosper?

I used to believe that stuff too, about how our electronic buying habits tell them all about us and our preferences etc. and allow them to control and direct our behavior and such.
I'm having my doubts about the effectiveness of that. After decades of buying nothing but books about guns, war, murder and mayhem from them, the picture below shows what Amazon has apparently identified as my most likely next purchase, custom-tailored to my Kindle's screen saver.

I think it may be getting close to time to buy Apple stock. I have used DOS and later Windows since the early 1980's and I was what would be described as a heavy user most of those years.
But I am really seriously thinking of making my next computer related purchase a Mac computer. I am tired of hundreds of windows updates each month if not each week, when some of them disable my computer, I am tired of the viruses, and I am tired of Windows invasion of my privacy.
Even if they give this version 10 away, you know there is a catch buried somewhere.
I am not savvy enough to run Linux, so it looks like an apple will be in my future. This is sad as I don't like Apple that much more than MS. Apple has focused on WiFi and high speed internet to the exclusion of us country folk who still use phone modems. But even if I have to install a satellite high speed connection which is like doing business with the Devil himself, it still beats having do deal with a MS product.
So I doubt I will be downloading Windows 10 other than I may try and put it on my old back up computer that is running Windows XP Pro now.

Windows 10 has a pretty extensive telemetry suite built in that give Microsoft information on the OS, any mods, any software you're running, etc. If you try cranking up the privacy settings, it'll warn you some apps won't work with those settings.
There are several sites with "how to" disable the functions. Here's one:

It now looks like Microsoft is backing down a little on 10, but they're backfilling some of those same functions into 7 and 8:
