Mike Venturino Update 11-4

It's better to find out you need by-pass surgery now and have it done rather than find out about it in an autopsy. I will pray for him, too. Good writer.

He and Phil spangenburg(sp?) Were my go to articles to read in the late 80's and Early 90's when I was a teenager getting into guns.
Wish him a full recovery and would like to thank him for his articles, he is the reason I'm addicted to 38-40 guns.

Damn, just saw this. Hope he came out oaky.

He's such a good writer that even when I wasn't interested in what he was writing about that I would STILL ready it.

Best wishes Mike.

Any one brave enough to have his picture taken wearing a "Hawaiian" shirt, and a WW II German helmet whilst holding an MP-44 and then having it featured in a nationally published gun magazine deserves to live!

Amen, brother!:D

His bypass surgery is scheduled for the 30th.

He IS (no past tense here) a very nice guy. I sure hope whatever's going on turns out OK. I met him in Livingston, MT. in 1988. I just mentioned recently in a thread how gracious he was showing me his guns in his downstairs gun room. A couple years ago some of his guns, including a favorite Shiloh sharps were on Gunbroker. I wrote the seller who was his friend, it turned out, asking if Mike was alright and he was. Hope that's the case now, too. I got a bad feeling just seeing his name there in this thread title.

Mike looked pretty bad a few years back. Grey complexion and pretty heavy. Then he lost a bunch of weight and looked Far better. I see him at the Bozeman gun show once or twice a year.

Hope it all works out for him.

Yvonne made the following post on Facebook tonight.

Duke is out of ICU and in critical care unit. Pain is still not so good. Eating small amounts and trying to rest. He took a few steps with a walker. Yvonne

Good to know. Mike's writing isn't always my cup of tea, but I usually learn from it...which is its own measure of merit. Prayers sent.

Duke is one of my two favorite writers of the recent generations (Seyfried is the other one). I count him along with Keith, Skelton, Milek, Cooper and Jordan as very influential on my views about guns and shooting.

Wishing him all the best and a full and speedy recovery.
