As bad as canned tamales it seems.

Ringo, where do you find this stuff?
I'm going down to the nearby Smiths Supermarket and say to the manager, who I know,
'Ringo sent me.'
I want to see that limited access back room where they keep all this stuff.

:D Walmart canned ''meats''aisle. :D Well, it looked good in the picture.

I love original Spam, sliced and fried brown and crisp at the edges. Preferably with eggs. I have absolutely no interest in teriyaki or other variants. Didn't have before, but Ringo damn sure nailed it down.

Bacon spam is good so is jalapeno spam--only you really have to imagine the jalapeno flavor.:)

Edit: Just realised that auto correct cannot spell Jalapeño.

tried the "spicey hot" spam ...ONCE....never again...will stick to regular...as others.... fried crisp on edges...with cheddar...the "bacon" and "smoked" are not bad....but here is one for ya ifin ya didnt know....spam makes a great source for fire...like solid rocket fuel...try it...the flames will shoot out sideways....:D

Thanks for the warning on spicy hot, I almost bought some. :D

Other than soup, I no longer eat anything that comes in a can (and I used to love Spam). Canned tamales? Really? C'mon. Why would you do that?

Now is this the canned Spam or the new Dried Spam Snacks?

Nobody would take me up on my Karma of a dollar off coupon for the dried Spam snacks, so I was going to use the coupon myself, if the snacks would cost me a dollar or less.

None of the fine grocers I frequent seems to stock dried Spam Snacks. Canned tamales, the kind with paper wrappers! They still make those?:eek: :eek:

Its the canned. After two bites, I threw the rest out to the pigeons who actually liked it.

Lookahere...You opened a can of Spam, surely you weren't expecting an epicurean delight. You had to know what you were getting yourself in for. I asked my wife to pick up a can of Spam because I like it fried with taters and eggs about once in a blue moon. She picked up a can of reduced salt Spam and I knew I was in trouble from the get-go. I had a buddy that used to eat Spam sandwiches at least once a week, on purpose. He also used to eat it with about a quarter inch slice of onion.
By the way canned tamales used to be something I looked forward to back when I didn't have much money. I used to boil the tamales right in the can, like I did in the military with C-Rats, then pour the whole enchilada on boiled rice, peel the paper off the tamales and mix the whole thing up...Yumm.

Heh heh, I do remember feeling strange in my belly while looking at it. I SHOULD have listened to its signals. From now on, I will.:D

Maybe that's where I went wrong with the tamales? I'm too skeered to find out for sure.

BUT I DON'T LIKE SPAM!

Try the teriyaki flavored cougar scat, the cat was able to get it down. Look for it in the recycled meats aisle. A buddy gave me a can of fish "sphincters" once, I may still have them.

If I remember? I think it was near thanksgiving last year when I went into an HEBs wanting to buy a dozen fresh cooked beef tamales they sell indoors from a tamale stand. Well, the beef, pork and Bean tamales were sold out, and I can't stand chicken tamales. I wanted tamales at all costs, remembered the canned version, and bought two cans worth. Got home and prepared to have what I THOUGHT would be a decent dinner--boy was I wrong. I tried killing its taste by drowning it in salsa verde--the Verde helped but, I was resigned to never have the canned version again. I left the other can at a neighbors door never telling them I was leaving it. I don't think they ever found out either, as this neighbor talks to me all the time.:D

Try canned asparagus. ~shudder~
Canned asparagus is one of the prime ingredients of the bloody Caesar, considered by some to be the provincial mixed drink of British Columbia. Vodka, Clamato juice, Tabasco to taste and celery salt on the rim of the glass of ice, pickled asparagus to stir...try one after a hot day in the sun at the lake.

While on the subject of canned meats...Don't forget Yoder's Canned Bacon...I ain't kidding around a bit when I say that it is likely some of the best bacon I have ever eaten. I just bought two cases to replenish the last two that were in my larder, the first time I opened a can I was pleasantly suprised at the wonderful smoked aroma and pristine white of the solidified grease. The bacon is precooked and perfectly finished, all you do is briefly toss it in the pan to warm it up then use it however you wish.
