Another food/suppliment to avoid ala canned tamales/teriyaki spam.

El Yucateco comes in 3 colors, green, red, and orange, and I know at least 2 of them are habanero.
They are hot and tasty, pretty much my favorite. I like Chollula and Tabasco, but they just aren't hot enough.
Try it, you'll like it. :)

I'm going for a few foodie goodies later today. I'll see if they have these on their shelves.

Please, for the sake of humanity and those of us that enjoy your posts, find some lab rats to test this stuff on lest we lose a valued wit and since of humor. And that is laced on thicker than any sauce you ever tried!:D:D:D:D

I'd use my cat but, she's smart enough to stay away from this stuff, tho she actually enjoys peppered beef jerky.. I didn't think of giving her any, but she got lucky when a piece fell out of the bag. :D

Ringo,

Don't you live in Corpus Christ? You should be able to find any of the sauces mentioned above at your HEB or Walmart.

I like a bit of zip in my foods, but do not partake in punishingly hot sauces. The picture is what I have on hand now. The Goya was a first time purchase for me, was too mild for anything but chip dipping, and I will not buy it again. Everything pictured is available at HEB. Check the International aisles as well as the condiment aisles. Also, see if your Academy stocks rubs and hot sauces in the outdoor cooking area.

I also like the La Costena line of salsas. Some of those have a good dose of heat along with flavor. Most have MSG, but I have no MSG issues.

Edit: Went to La Michoacana Meat Market and picked up my favorite La Costena salsas. The Green Mexican is tomatillo/jalapeno based. The Taquera is tomato/arbol pepper based. Both are labeled as medium, but the taquera salsa is much more spicy.

You know, I haven't thought of looking at La Michoacana? and there is one only about half a mile from me. DOH!!!!!!!:D

I know of LA Costena, the only product HEBs has of theirs here, are the canned pickled Jalapeños-which I use. I'll ask the manager of one I go to most often and see if he will add it. Green for me, I'm not much in tomato-based. That's where I went wrong when making the habanero salsa I still have.

All four varieties of the La Costena salsas are on sale at The Lady from Michoacan 1/2 mile from me for $1.88 a bottle. I think their sales run at all stores, but they may vary by city.

My HEB stocks all four varieties at $1.75 per bottle, but they are frequently out of the one I want. My Kroger sells the La Costena Homestyle and Green for $2.19 each and does not stock the Taquera or Ranchera styles. I've seen the Green at my local Walmart for $2.00, but I seldom shop for groceries at Walmart.

I'd shop at La Michoacana more, but I do not speak/read enough Spanish to understand everything they have, and I hate asking folks to translate for me.

I tried both hebs and wm yesterday, no dice on any. I didn't see a shelf lable marking their spot either. I did check at Academy this morning, and found some that came in a mini wooden outhouse called, butt burning juice. I might give it a try in DEC, as its $10 bucks per bottle.
