Bourbon

Years ago I drank a LOT of Jim Beam (I liked the pretty bottles), then a rum fan for many years. Now back to the whiskey, Jack Daniels single barrel is great. And yes, I am a fan of the Honey Jack and it makes great fudge! Probably time to try some bourbon again.

Did pretty good this Christmas. Here are the most interesting.

If you can read the label this one states that this batch was 128 proof. I'll keep this around for snakebite.

The reviews on this stuff are really good.

Obviously this one's about spent. Wild Turkey Maker's Keep. Pretty good stuff but truthfully no better than my favorite, Dickel's Barrel Select but far costlier.

I like Jim Beam and use it pretty much exclusively for making my signature Manhattan cocktails for myself and for guests. As for sippin' and sometimes a dash of water, I think the finest and smoothest is Rebel Yell.

I like Jack, but it's not Bourbon, just a nice Tennessee whiskey. It has a great nut-nuanced flavor, and often times Jack and water will be found in my after-hours relaxation drink. Very fast to prepare!

Bourbon or my favorite TN Whisky, George Dickel "white label" over ice, crushed or cubed.

A relatively new comer to the TN whisky market is Cumberland Cask and it is worthy of your time and efforts.

My wonderful wife just gave me a limited edition bourbon.

"Blood Oath" 2nd Edition. I'm no collector, so I'll report on the contents soon!

That being the case I'd make sure I kept a small snake around just in case!!

So if we are doing pictures....
This is what I got right now.
The Black Label is what gets mixed...or flavored. smh

Booker's is limited production ("allocated"), and you have to ask your local store to put one back when they (rarely) come in. For 2017 they are cutting production and raising the price according to my distributor friends. $50 this year, ~$100 next year (yeah, a week from now). Grab it while you can.

Booker's is not allocated. It is on every shelf I look at. That may change. Among allocated whiskies are the Van Winkle collection, Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, Parker Heritage, and some others.

What a pleasure to open this thread and find all these fine folks who love good whiskey. Maybe there is hope for our country. ;)

P.S. I drink more Jack Daniels' than anything else, but the proof has gone from 90 to 86 to 80 in my lifetime. Any lower and I'll have to add chocolate syrup as I do to milk...

Crown has now made several different flavors .. the apple wasn't very good but the Crown Maple is very good .. haven't tried the Vanilla or the Honey yet .. I bought the sample bottles for the wife to try them .. we both like the Maple ..

She got a big bottle of the Maple for Christmas last year ..

I finished off what was left of a bottle of Makers 46 on Christmas Eve. My son has an affection for good bourbons and brought me a bottle of small batch Bourbon made by Adirondack Distilling Company. What's more, all the corn is sourced locally and mixed with water from the Adirondack Mntns. I'm sampling some now, ( neat of course) and it is very smooth and delicious. If I could only figure out how to post a photo from my phone
