Volquartsen extractor

I'd be more interested in an aftermarket ejector that seats more securely, since that is where the majority of my problems with my 15-22 stem from, but any expanded availability of aftermarket parts for this rifle is a good thing.

Nice now just need to find the spring and plunger and that's one less thing to worry about breaking. How about a firing pin anywhere?

Not that I've seen. I thought the VQ extractor was a step in the right direction. I hope more stuff will follow...

Good to see the aftermarket starting to produce parts. An aftermarket firing pin would be great. I have broken 6 of them between 3 different rifles and its always in the same place. Needs a little beefing up bout 1/4 inch from the tip.

How difficult is it to install this part?

Removing and cleaning the extractor is a relatively easy, but somewhat fiddly task.
When doing this you just need to make sure that you don't lose the spring as it will fly off into the ether if you are not prudent with how and where you perform this task.

There is a Youtube vid which describes the process

Hi Ben,

You not got a spare firing Pin yet?

They are out there, though not cheap they can be had, don't recall just now where I got mine from but when it comes to me I will ping you a vendor..:D

It came to me.... eventually :D

Suffolk Rifle Co, give Neal a call, if they are in stock, then easy source.

Bout £20 if I recall correct, was about this time last year I picked mine up... ( not needed it yet though, thankfully ).

Still waiting on my trigger from him....been a month so far. Could have had it by now if i'd have bought from brownells. Getting frustrated. :(

What was it that made you decide to try the shop / dealer route instead of Brownells ?

I don't get why it seems to take so long for people to get what they are wanting.

There is no way I would wait that long for a trigger, especially if I knew I could go somewhere else and have it in 10 days or so.

Maybe I'm just not wanting the right things?? I seem to be able to find what I'm looking for and then source when I can afford it.

Hope that reads right. I just don't get this huuuugggeee waiting period that seems to prevail this side I the pond.

Rob. :(

Just installed and used mine today and I'm impressed. The casings fly a lot further even with standard velocity ammo. Well worth it. I don't see there being any more problems with stove pipes or jams.

Yes I totally agree I honestly wasn't expecting much of a difference at all, but from first shoot it was easy to see the casing was ejecting quite a bit further out. Nice and like it. Improved firing pin now someone please and my 15-22 would done and nearly prefect.

Does this upgrade make the 1522 able to cycle more types of ammo?

It shouldn't. I just installed one and the benefit is a more positive/reliable extraction. I wasn't having an issue with extraction, however, I was in another firearm and figured what the heck.

Of course, extraction is certainly necessary for proper cycling...
