Volquartsen extractor

It shouldn't. I just installed one and the benefit is a more positive/reliable extraction. I wasn't having an issue with extraction, however, I was in another firearm and figured what the heck.

Of course, extraction is certainly necessary for proper cycling...

I was just wondering because I read this guy's glowing review on Brownell's website. It seems very well written, almost like an advertisement, so I was a bit skeptical, maybe it was written by the manufacturer, so I'm seeking a second opinion. lol

My 15-22 eats everything I have ever tried ... With the factory extractor.

In reality, you could lose the extractor and it will function just fine. Blowback extracts the fired case; all the extractor does is enable you to extract an unfired round.

I'm curious to see if it will cycle ammo that is not recommended in the manual. Mine will run Golden Bullets, which is one on the not recommended list. I ordered the Volquartsen extractor. Can't wait to try it out. My1522 has been sent back to S&W for a blown out extractor due to firing out of battery. My firing pin broke on my last range trip. S&W is shipping me a new one.

That list is useless! It was written several years ago and has never been updated. Half the ammo on the market today didn't even exist when it was made up. It can safely be ignored.

I have one of the first 15-22s built and it has always run perfectly with the Federal bulk 36 gr JHP. Since I've run out of that ammo, I tried CCI 40gr Mini Mags which were on the recommended list at the beginning. Well, I was shooting speed steel when a big bad FTE happened which really ruins a speed run.

Common advice around here is get the Volquartsen extractor which just arrived today. We'll see.

Volquartson extractor

I installed a Volquartson extractor to my 10/22. Try it you'll like it.
I did the same thing. Had 10/22 to the range today and shot over 400 rounds with out any issues. My 10/22 was suffering from stove pipe issues before the install. This was the best $10 I ever spent.
