My new Shield

Amazing how people here can 'love' their new M&P BEFORE they even take it to the range! (I say that as I sit here ogling and caressing my new Bodyguard (which I admittedly Love) patiently awaiting our first trip to the range tomorrow. Same thing happened a couple weeks ago with my new Shield.

Congratulations, and welcome to the Shield owner's family. They really are great at what they do. I'll second the recommendation for an Uplula.

Get to the range! Shoot that puppy....

Congrats on your new Shield and welcome to the "Shield Club". :-0

I'm older and have always been a "revolver guy" . . and still am. But I do own two 9mm semis - a Ruger sR9 and a 9mm Shield. I got the Shield to switch off to for CCW on occasion. I fell in love with it the first time I held one and I had done a lot of reading about them - pros and cons, etc. I loved it the first time I shot it and overtime I shoot it . . . I just love it even more. Most guns you fine things you like and things you don't like. I have yet to find a thing I don't like about my Shield . . . S & W certainly got this one "right".

Enjoy your new Shield!

CONGRATs on your new Shield, I love mine and have over 600 Round s in my new Shield.

Congrats and Enjoy! I have one in 9mm and 40 S&W. I was always a FS carry guy till I bought my 40 Shield on impulse. 2 weeks later bought the 9. Waiting for a FDE model, then I'll have to buy 2 more!!

I'm buying a m&p shield with my tax money this year, now all I need to do is decide on which caliber, the 9mm or .40,I have my ccw loc and right now edc my m&p bodyguard which I absolutly love!any opinions on which caliber is better,I've kinda always wanted a 40 cal so I'm kinda leaning that way.

Which Shield to Buy?

Go to the local gun range rent both models and then decide. I personally don't care for the snappy recoil of the 40 cal so I bought the 9 and love it.

Love my new shield!!!! Had it for abt two weeks now. Cant wait to get to the range!

TWO WEEKS ?? Man, sometimes with a new toy, I can't go two hours without at least doing a quick "hit & run" on a dirt road not far from me:D. I've been using that spot for quick test fires, for years now. One of these days, the cops will pull up and tell me that's private property and I ain't supposed to be shooting that close to a road, and I'll have to promise not to come back, and that'll be that, but it's been a real lifesaver for those times i can't get out to one of my freinds properties anytime soon.
Anyway, congrats on the Shield, I've had them nagging at me for a few weeks now, but I've yet to pull the trigger on one.
I dropped by my biggest LGS today to fiddle with one again, and damned if they didn't already sell the one I had my eye on !

The decision for me came down to two things…1. cost of ammo and 2. having the extra round in the mag with the 9mm.

my buddy has an XDS and were going to the range next week. Going to try his XDS out then. I'll let you know what I think.

Congrats! If you don't have them already, consider an Uplula mag loader and Talon rubber grips. They make the Shield experience complete.

I can attest to this; I have m&p 9mm and mags are tough to load initially. I really like talon grips as an addition to this gun. Two excellent choices!

Yes, after my first trip to the range (and loading the mags) convinced me I wanted a loader. Is that particular Uplula universal model the one I should purchase for the Shield mags?

Thanks
