The S&W Model 610 5" is a very nice and sought after piece, right? I have it saved on a certain gun auction site so I'm always looking and these revolvers, and they are not cheap. They are pushing $3000 all the time and the picture of one make me want to SCREAM! The seller wants someone to come off close to $3000.000 and the picture of the revolver show a filthy cylinder and breach face, the forcing cone area is not much better. I'm not going to pick on this guy because I see this all the time online and at gun shows. I've purchased a few guns online only to have them come to me absolutely filthy.....REALLY?? What happened to common courtesy? I can only imagine when these sellers go to their proctologist for a check up. Do they have three weeks of build-up down there? If you sell a gun.... clean the damn thing and quit being rude. Okay that's it, I feel better.......thanks................I hate laziness.

I wouldn't buy a used gun that looks like ****
because of lack of a good cleaning.
Tells me the owner just didn't give a darn about
his stuff and there's no telling what he's done to
abuse that gun either intentionally or unintentional.

There is no way to prevent this; complimenting and encouraging the sellers who deliver clean guns to buyers keeps the disease from spreading, maybe :).

I hear ya. The model 19 I carry everyday under the seat of my pickup was cleaned in 2002 November to be exact. It was required as it was pulled from the mud after my 4 wheeler rolled oven in an elk wallow. I did a thorough job of cleaning. I pulled the grips and took it to the local car wash and hosed it down with soapy water. I tied it to the roof rack of my jeep and gave it a blow dry on the ride back up the mountain. I think I will give it another cleaning in the next few years.

Any time I consider buying something online that has a stain or other mark that the seller states "will clean right off," I suggest that he remove it and get back to me with updated photos or accept my lower offer made to cover me in case it won't.

That always either calls his bluff or shows me his item is worth its asking price.

Oh, okay, I thought (by your title) that you wanted me to clean the ones I'm going to keep! I used to clean after every single range session, not anymore. I can't remember the last time I cleaned my IDPA gun, a Gen 4 Glock 17 (or the wife's M&P, for that matter, just a quick wipe down is all). My NM1911? Yeah, if I expect it to remain "alibi free", but that's a different animal.
I bet more good guns are cleaned to death then shot out, frankly...

Selling one? Yes, absolutely...

Funny, I see it exactly the other way around. I have bought many dirty guns at pawn shops, etc. where I thought to myself "if they had spent half an hour cleaning that thing, they could have easily gotten a couple hundred more". Lucky for me, they didn't.

In fact I have searched out these deals because I can shoot em then clean em up and come out ahead on a trade or sale.

Done quite well at it.

Every time I have sold a gun I have made sure that it was clean. At the very least clean the barrel, lubricate where necessary, and wipe down the outside.

Just shows a little pride.

YMMV.
