22LR MOUNTAIN GUN!?

I do wish it were a square butt, though.

I will probably be looking at those "round to square" adapter grips,,
I too like a SB 617,,, :)

Now I don't feel the need to buy another model 18, at least not as much need.

For the most part,, blued guns are for lookin' at,,, NOW!! :D

Mine should be picked up before noon tomorrow,,,

Have we decided what optic matches the Mountain Gun the best??

The second "twin" arrived at 9:16 a.m. today ,,, I picked them up at 10 a.m.

The pic was taken of the guns as they arrived, not even an initial wipe down,,,

Both guns are perfect, not dirty, and they look like clones of each other.

My dream of sequential serial numbers did not happen,,,

One serial # is a "CTR" the other is a "CSP"

Now,, I gotta see if Amazon has a book on The Care and Feeding of TWINS!!

My Ford Flex self-identifies with an 18-wheeler and will only allow me to fuel it at a commercial truck stop.

I love RB J-frames of any caliber as long as they have 2" barrels. I own a 36 I got for a song because the guy didn't know what he had. It'd been lying on a shelf in his grandfather's closet for years & had some pitting that would've been too expensive to polish out so I had it Cerakoted in Satin Black & used it for an EDC for a while. I also have a real nice Model 34 (1982 vintage) that I bought from Cabela's when they opened a new store about a mile away. They had a RB & SB and I should have bought both at $500 each because they were 98% at least. I've only put a few rounds thru it and will disassemble it, clean every crevice & put it away for my sons to argue over when I'm gone. I also bought a 637 Airweight in 11/2014 because at that time any J-frames were hard to find. It's BNIB & will stay that way - I'll shoot the 36 if I get the urge for snub-gunning.

It's a step in the right direction. A sku that starts with "15" usually means it's not standard production. Maybe a limited run for a certain distributor. You can see it's a 10-shot. I'd like it better if they lost the ejector shroud.

I'm with KC what's with the added weight with the ejector housing? S&W design engineers working over time and still failing at their job, they could of added that weight to make it a square butt?

Even with the lock, if I had money to spend on one, I would get it.
1) A 10 shot .22 revolver has a lot of value for some purposes, including plinking.
2) The trigger on a K frame is usually better than that of a J frame out of the box, and can safely be made far better.
3) I really dislike the full lug barrels, and will probably never buy another revolver that has one, for both cosmetic and practical reasons.
4) RB K frame are a great package - easier to carry, good to shoot (and grips are so personal that other than avoiding wood grips as a rule I know I might have to experiment).

Finally got to the range to shoot mine. The double actions is rough. Single action about what you expect from a S&W. Accuracy was about what you expect from any 617. Very happy with it, but may have to get a trigger job on it. The grips are growing on me.

I've been watching sportsman's web site since I missed out on getting one. They updated the page to this:

Was it produced and if so why was it discontinued???
Well, I have one so it must have been produced :) I don't know why they were made nor how many were made. But I haven't seen any others come up for sale. I sure wish I had bought two when I had the chance. Sure am glad I bought one when I did have the chance.

Maybe S&W finally figured out all the bells whistles and price increases don't work? I've own many a K22 in my life time but, still the same. Except when they added more weight and put the full underlug on barrels(which I removed). Started buying them when I was young because they, truly were the "Outdoorsman's" pistol.

Found this older thread.....what's the story with this revolver???
Was it produced and if so why was it discontinued???

Someone saw a bin filled with 700 damaged underlug barrels.
They stuck one back on a mill,, and made it into a perfect MG barrel.

So they produced the run of guns,,

Things like that happen all the time when you have creative employees.

(THIS IS MY GUESS!!)
