What the heck did I find?

The real question is:

Does it come with pre-ban magazines?
I didn't even see the magazines... ;) ... but being 9-rounders, magazine vintage wouldn't matter. :)

And let us not forget that I already own 3 brand spanking new 10mm magazines in anticipation of that glorious day before I die that a 10mm 3rd Gen finally makes it into my collection. :D

The way things have been going for me lately health-wise, your infamous Bam-Bam's Formula may have actually produced an overly-optimistic estimate of my remaining "good years"! :(

But for now I'll stick with 4-1/2 good years left. :) No need to get pessimistic until my latest lab reports and cardiologist's report come back. :D

Hang in there old fella,.....don't let anything shake you up too much. We went through that with my dad back in '09 and suffice to say, it's never as bad as they make it out to be. He's sitting across the table from me now sipping his coffee and getting ready to go work out. Turned 80 a couple of days ago and he's just now got five good years left,........I'd bet on it.

You already have the spare magazines in moonbat MA?!?! That's a done deal on sight as far as I'm concerned. No, actually I don't want to ride you too hard on this one. That 10mm doesn't sound like it's up your alley anyway(nor mine). I like custom just fine, but only 'classic' custom. If it looks like it came out of Griffin and Howe I'm all over it. Anything the least bit modernish is a no-go.

Still, if you can catch up to it next week you should still try to snap a few pics and maybe get it sold for the guy here.

At the right time and at the right price, I could see me buying it. :) Any 10mm 3rd Gen is still a 10mm 3rd Gen. :D And in moonbat Massachusetts, that's a very big deal to see a Model 1006 for sale under $1K. ;)

But under current circumstances, it's a no-go. :o And that's the truth. :) It just doesn't fit into my considerably reduced spending/acquisition plans for 2016. And this year, there is virtually no flexibility.

Healthwise, I hope to know a lot more about what's going on sometime in the coming week. My 24-hour heart monitor results should be back and I'll be seeing my PCP anyway 'cause my symptoms are getting progressively worse. For now, all I can do is hope that my 4-1/2 "good" remaining years per the Bam Formula stay good. :o If I disappear for a while, it probably means they put me in the hospital. :(

Yesterday, I was able to stop into a MA shop that I rarely get to visit. He had mostly the usual stuff but then I spotted a gun he was apparently in the process of cleaning & lubing. It had a tag right near it: "S&W Model 1006 Performance Center"! Well, that got my attention quick! :D

But the gun was field stripped down and practically soaked in oil or whatever on a rag... and it was a black gun. An all-black gun. A black 1006 I thought to myself? Could it be?

I asked and the dealer confirmed: Yes, it was a Model 1006. He was in the process of selling a gun so that was all I got out of him. It's a one-man shop.

I eventually got a closer look at the frame and, sure enough, it said "Mod 1006" on it.

But it was all black (which looked factory, not refinished) with a slide that looked more like a fancy S&W 1911 slide than a 3rd Gen slide. It had both front and rear "fish-scale" style gripping surfaces. What the heck???

After I got back home, I tried to look it up via Google, but I found nothing even close.

So what was I looking at? Was it an actual Performance Center version of a Model 1006? Or was it some refinished Frankengun put together by the dealer or someone else?

Help!!! :p

I'd love to see a pic if possible! I'd be interested in possibly purchasing it! (As if I don't enough already)

Cheers!!

Dang! You have way too many already!!! :D

Seriously, I'll do my very best to get a photo of it next Saturday, assuming the dealer still has it and brings it to the show. Further, if the dealer adds it to his website listing of used guns (w/Pix), I'll let you know. :)

But if you can picture a BLACK matte finished Model 1006 frame with a slide that looks like this one, you've got the basic idea. :)

Here is the best shot I could get. It wasn't easy. I have Photoshopped it just enough to remove the reflections and identifying & extraneous info. Enjoy! :)

Yup, me too. I would buy it. Does it have a Briley bushing? If it does and I was in a free state, send it my way. I'm thinking it shoots better or as well as it looks. I don't think I would have left without it, unless finances were an issue as described of course. If it shoots well, That thing is awesome, a 945 10mm. Now that is a one off and why not.

Melonite 1006 with a 945 slide in 10mm, back when S&W had the capability, yeah, I like it!

Beautiful Gun!!!! The fish scales are nice on this particular model. Really like the 5" barrel.

This was a very nice read. Thanks for sharing TTSH and dotdsd334.

Buy it......... I'd buy it in a heartbeat..... and I've never even considered or wanted a 10mm!!!!
It's a little too late for that now Bam! :p

Go ahead... You can make fun of me for not knowing what was potentially within my grasp. :D I totally deserve it!
