My EDC has been the S&W M&P Shield 9mm #180021 and I have no complaints with it. I absolutely love it as a matter of fact. I recently purchased the Ported Performance Center version #10108 and even though I find the differences suttle, I actually do like it even moreso. The ports actually help with the recoil a bit. The enhanced trigger is smoother and gives less fatigue after shooting many rounds. The best feature are the sites. For me it's much easier to focus, day and night. The combination of the back red sites and green front site I think also helps with the eyes.

Overall the 100 dollar price difference is worth it to me, to some though the price difference may not be worth it being the differences are suttle. If you are a pro with the Shield already, you may prefer the lower cost standard Shield. But if you are not a pro, don't mind the price difference, or just like a gun that I think looks cooler, then the Performance Center ported version is best. Heck, not saying though a pro wouldn't want it, too!

Again, based on my opinion and likes!

I picked up my PC Shield the other day and hit the range Sunday am with it (did a little thread on the results). Never shot a Shield before but both the wife and I really enjoyed shooting the PC. I agree the sights are nice, and i like the trigger compared to my other MP's.
Does it get dirtier than non-ported? Sure seemed to but I expected that part. May need to try some other solvents to see if there's a quick/easy cleaner that may work better than gun scrubber on the barrel though.

And yeah i too think it does look cool

;)

.... yeah, the ports are another area that need cleaned but I just use Q-Tips and the cleaner. Not hard.

Love my shield 9 PC! Im sure I would've loved the standard just as much.
Cant mention enough Slip 2000 for cleaning, everytime I clean it gets easier and easier! Best stuff I have ever used , I use their grease, lightly on rails etc as well!

Had a PC Shield on order for 8 weeks and it just came in today. I have a standard Shield and am looking forward to comparing the 2. By the way I love the fact it known as a PC (Politically Correct ) Shield!!

.... another thing I noticed when taking out of the box and removing from the protected plastic sleeve was that the PC model the outside of the slide was nicely oiled lightly where as with the standard it was not.  They were both new in the box.  I do not know if this is only done with the PC version or if S&W just started this. Either way, that was nice to see!

You know you are right. I got a standard Shield about a month ago. It was dry. The PC was shiny with oil. Wonder why?

Finally got the time to shoot the PC yesterday. Very happy with it. The differences between my standard Shield and PC are slight. It is definitely easier to bring back on target with the porting. Sights are helpful too. The differences in the trigger are slight (to me).
