Cyrano, thanks for starting this internet match and getting it rolling. It is fun and your effort is appreciated.
BB57 has it right: the barrel length for automatic pistols in the Internet Snubby Match (regardless of what ATF says) is measured from the mzuzle to the breech face. At 7 yards, this cannot be more than 2 inches, so it effectively eliminates automatic pistols from competiton.
I plan to shoot my S&W 638 alloy frame J frame with +P, just to see how hard it kicks.

Now I am confused.
At 7 yards the limit is 2", with no 3" class? That does indeed make semi auto pistols a moot point.
How firm is the 2" limit - how about 2.125" revolvers?
I've got a couple 1 7/8" Model 36s, but everything else I own would not be eligible in this match.

Post #1, 'way back in 2014 establishes the rules about barrel length but we're loose about this. Nobody is going to mike the barrel of your revolver. Take your 2.125 inch revolver out there and shoot the match. We'd probably object if you showed up with a Colt Buntline, but the object is to shoot and have fun.
I believe this is in the spirit of the match established by David R.
The Model 36 shot just a bit under 3/4" with 38 Special, 3.8 gr of Red Dot and a 158 gr LSWC:
while the Model 60 shot just under 7/8" in .357 Mag with a 125 gr XTP and 9.0 gr of Unique.
Both of them would have been much better without the shooter induced fliers...

You've set a pretty high bar there. Your 'fliers' would be well in the middle of my group.

I approached it like a really short range Bullseye competition, with short barrel.
Aim small, miss small. Using a small target paster for a "target" really helped given the 7 yard range.
Otherwise it's natural point of aim, trigger control and sight alignment, sight alignment and more sight alignment.

Yeah, and a steady hand helps a lot!!!
There are three keys to that:
1. Finding your natural point of aim, so you're not fighting yourself keeping the sights on target is a big part of that.
2. Developing a consistent grip, with the muscles well enough developed to maintain constant and consistent grip pressure through the trigger squeeze; and
3. Recognizing that no one is ever rock steady, and as result you need to increase pressure on the trigger when the sight picture is good, and hold that pressure on the trigger when the sight picture isn't good, that way the shot will break when the sight picture looks good.
If you are not used to shooting one handed, it also helps to take a break between shots or between every other shot, by at least putting your arm down in a ready position.

We have a winner: BB57 with a group of 3/4 inch. Nice going!! This is my swan song as match coordinator; I'll be handing it back to it's owner, David R. I plan to keep shooting in it though; it's too much fun to quit, and it gives me familiarity with my 638 which is my usual carry pistol.

I was born and raised in SD and I always liked that class of battleship.
I was raised in the western part of the state, and didn't get to drop by the memorial in Sioux Falls much, but I'd visit when I was there. I've also toured the BB59 Massachusetts and the BB60 Alabama.
As an aside, I tried to get some interest from the city of Sioux Falls to do something similar and obtaining parts the Victory ship "Sioux Falls Victory" for a memorial along side the South Dakota Memorial, when the Sioux Falls Victory was scrapped in 2006, but I got absolutely no where. Apparently there was no civic pride at all if it cost money...
David, will the 10,10,10 be single or double please?
