Yes, that way when you say something really stupid or outrageous, you can just dismiss it as "I was just being sarcastic".

I can do sarcasm with the best (or worst) of them; but here I try to avoid doing it at other posters unless they are obvious trolls.

Of course.....

.....but it helps to let everybody know that you are being sarcastic. An emoticon is a good indicator. Funny or informative sarcasm is good. Mean, deriding sarcasm I don't like, myself.

This forum has smart and knowledgeable people and some with great writing skills to the point where I just like to read what people have to say. I'd hate to stifle that.
