A late start, in my 60's, in firearms purchasing, due to moving to VA from NYC where only bad guys and cops had guns, not the average citizen. This poll indicates that the revolver crowd is getting long in the tooth and the younger firearms owners are in plastic gun forums rather than this forum. Enough said.

I hate to say it but it looks like we are a dying breed.
Mom purchased my first revolver with money I earned when I was 15 back in 1970.. I still have it.

I will be 48 next month.

My kids, which include my son in law, are 26, 29, and 31. They all have hunting guns, but will be starting their S&W collecting from me on their 30th birthdays.

My son in law turns 32 next, and he’s getting a 28-2. My daughter then turns 30 next. She has a Ruger Blackhawk tattoo so not sure what to do there. My son will be getting my 586 in a few years.

I am 64. I knew the poll would slant older, but I am surprised there is such a disparity for the 60+ demographic. It kind of tracks with gun show exhibitors in my area. Thirty years ago when I started setting up a table at the local collectors shows, I was one of the younger guys. All these years later, I am STILL one of the younger guys setting up. I would say the show crowd reflects this poll, Lots of 60+ year olds, just a small number of under 60 guys. Something to think about I guess. I do think we are a shrinking group, not just S&W collectors, but older firearms collectors in general. We are just not drawing in enough new blood IMO.

I just hit the 1/2 of a century mark, all I can say is imagine how shocked all the wives will be when they open up those safes & see just how many guns are REALLY in there!

I’m forty three, I might carry a plastic gun but have always had a love for steel and wood.

Growing up my grandfather had Marlin lever guns and S&W Revolvers. It must be genetic, as they are also my favorites.

I’ll be 71 in February. I’ve been retired for four years on Nov 18. I was fortunate to have a job with a retirement payout that enables me to live better retired than when I was working. I’ve been fortunate to be able to continue to add to my firearm accumulation.

I have not had any medical issues and am still in good physical shape. Staying active keeps my mid-section somewhat in check, I still have a full head of hair although it started turning grey in my early thirties and has been white since my mid 50s. My beard finally turned white in my 60s.

I have a good life and have been very fortunate to be married for 35+ years to a great wife, who I suspect has played a large part in my continued good health and contentment with life.

I doubt that I will make it past 85 because our family historically has not lived longer than that.

57. Some days I feel 17. Others 87.

At some point I have to decide what to do with the guns. No one to will them to.

I suppose I'll have to address it sometime in the future, probably sooner than later if I was smart.
