I bought my last gun on Sunday. A S&W 686-5 4 inch 7 shooter... it is my 4th 686 & 2nd 586.
I have given up on ever buying the following:
A Colt Python 6" or 4 " barrel SS or blue.
A Colt Peacemaker SAA 45 LC 1st, 2nd or 3rd gen.
A S&W M29 4 inch blue, like the one I sold!

I have 20 handguns ranging from 1- 9 mm, 8 - 357, 1 - 41, 4 - 44, 4 - 45 ACP, and 2 - 45 LC.
An - AK47, AR15, 10/22, Mossberg 500 and Rem 870 shotgun 12g.

I have sold or traded a few guns. Have heaps of factory and hand loads on hand for each caliber.
I guess what I am stating here is that at 64 I have carefully purchased each gun, enjoyed shooting them, loaded each one with my favorite shooting load... and I am happy.
My Son will have them all with his promise to take good care of them for his future sons and or daughters.

Question is what guns have you realized maybe you'll never own and that's okay at this point in your like.

Of your unobtainable, the python is what is missing from my pile. But I have not given up hope. I don't have the exact missing items on your list because my 29-2 is nickel. But I have the others and I am still not satisfied yet. But if the good Lord was to come take me home before the python is in my pile, I am ok with that. I have others that I can still obtain.

Well I'll be 79 in December and am still looking .It's like when i was younger with girls and ladies the chase was half the FUN.Just like chasing after a different gun,With guns i still remember what to do with them though.

Walter Ooooooooh!

Last gun? Yeah right!'

Never cared for the Python. Vent ribs belong on shotguns.

An SAA would be cool. I always admired .the New Frontier .44 Special.

A 5" M-27 is one I'll never own. Wolf & Klar HE 3rd.

Those guns would be cool but at 57 I've reached the point if I don't have a use or time to shoot it much, I don't want it.

A transferable M2HB. I had a deal in the palm of my hand back in 2003 for less than one half what they command today. I passed. Living in CT I figured I wouldn't be able to enjoy it much. I regret not getting it anyway, but it's definitely not happening at today's prices....not to mention there's been no such thing as cheap surplus .50BMG ammo in almost 15 years....

As far as not getting any more...I just got another 30" browning safe because every time I told myself I was done, I had to have just one more......

I just turn 60 this month. I got involved in the shooting hobby later than most in life as I never grew up around guns and never really felt the need for one. Then things changed and I took some courses to get my CCW permit, then I discovered I really enjoy shooting.

I realize though I will never have the 'tactical shotgun' for the shack I'd have if I was younger or had gotten into it much sooner in life. That's the only other gun I wish I had.

And it's not so much because of my age but also logistics. I am fortunate that I was finally able to find a nice private outdoor gun club and I was accepted for membership. I can shoot anything there I want. Problem is now I no longer drive full time and when I go out there I have to rent a car and plan it good.

I'd rather plan my trip out there around my new carry piece
BIG Hoss
(which thankfully fills my heart content) :D

But there is no denying if I had me a shotgun I'd be as happy as a pig in do-do.

A .44 Automag is my unobtainium.

Pythons just don't do anything for me. In fact, other than the SAA and, for fond memory reasons the Detective Special, Colt's don't do much for me at all. For the most part I will be keeping my eyes open for .357 K frames. I expect the only thing that will keep me from buying another gun is being dead.

I've herd this before, I'm 66, got more guns than I need. The other morning saw a friend of mine sitting on his porch having
his morning coffee. He is 82, I said what have you picked up?
Same conversation, he wasn't buying anymore guns, he has
at least 50 CF rifles and enough shotguns and handguns. Was
going to unload my tools that afternoon, which took me past
his house again. He waved me down to show me a 03, that
he found in local want adds and had just bought. I was hacking on him about AM conversation, his excuse was it was such a
good deal he couldn't pass it up. Nuff Said.

There is always something I'd 'like' but lets see - automag or Widley would be cool, just because.

I had a 4 inch Python, sold it and got my first Luger. I actually much prefer the 6 inch 686 - the feel is just great. Traded a 4 inch for a 6 inch, now wish I had kept a 4 inch...

Ha! That got me chuckling. The vent ribs comment. I did handle a python at an LGS and was really, really impressed with that particular guns trigger and all its trimmings. I have to say that, just because. At that moment in my hand, it was not a matter of hype or dragon chasing; just truth. If I had the 2500 to 3 k to spend or haggle with, hell if I had 2 thirds of it, I would have taken that gun home. But, ....

My Benelli super black eagle is a fair reminder! Ribs and all! Haha.
