My last gun I'll ever buy... that's it.

Well I'll be 79 in December and am still looking .It's like when i was younger with girls and ladies the chase was half the FUN.Just like chasing after a different gun,With guns i still remember what to do with them though.

Walter

I agree with you 100% .. The thrill of the hunt, looking for the next deal, Buying one, driving home from the LGS and thinking about what one you will be searching for .. You said it right.. " the chase was 1/2 the fun " .. I tell my shooting buddies after every new SW revolver I buy, this is it for awhile. They laugh and say, that's what you said 2 weeks ago .. I think atleast with me, it will never stop, the search, the endless hours looking at this model, reseaching that model. Great post Walter

I am fortunate to have acquired almost every gun I really wanted, plus others I didn't know I wanted until I ran across them. When I was a kid I could recite a list of the guns I was going to own when I "grew up", and I have all but three of them. I still hope to find a Colt SAA and a Ithaca 1911A-1, but I have given up on getting a Colt Diamondback. The prices for the Diamondback are insane. The last one I saw for sale had an asking price higher than what I paid for several of my cars. I am not paying several thousand dollars for the novelty of owning the same model of gun John Wayne carried in the movie "Brannigan". Even I have my limits.

I don't actively search for any gun, I just wait until I run across them. So far this year I picked up a 5" 27-2, a 1950 .357 3.5", a 66ND 4", and a LNIB 25-5 6" just by walking in my local shop to say hi. After that run of good luck I hope I don't find the SAA or Ithaca in the near future, as I am now a little short of disposable income.

Actually I've got or had pretty much everything I ever wanted in guns, so now I am upgrading my collection trying to find better examples and selling the extras.
When will I stop buying more? I guess when I die.

Last Gun

I told my kids I don't buy guns; most of them I just rent for a few years. If you buy a nice used S&W and keep it nice, you can always get your money back if you ever want to sell it. Of course, sometimes you never want to sell it..Willyboy

I've always wanted a 3" 625. They came out when I was first married and I could not afford it. Now things are much better but I just can't justify the crazy prices.

About 10 year ago Detroit had a gun buyback. I brought in every gun I owned, with the exception of a single shot 20 gauge.

I didn't know at the time it would bankrupt the city. Live and learn.

I look at the gun classifieds daily. (more than once) There is nothing that I NEED! I do enjoy TRADING. That started out when I was a kid. (not guns then) Don't know why I want still a .44. Have 45 Colt, & .45 ACP in revolvers. Load them, and not .44. I keep looking though. Am 63, and just love the HUNT! Bob

I turned 60 last week and over the past month prior to that day I instantly turned into a AR guy.......because I never had one and decided why not.

There is still one more coming next week, colt completion rifle.

Holy cow!! That looks brand new. Current production, old bringback - or what?

Alas, I couldn't afford to shoot it, but I hope you can. It deserves to be let out now and then.

It's an early 80's Rock Island gun build from surplus parts. It was unfired in that picture. It now has about 300 rounds through. I don't how this gun managed to go 30+ years without being shot.

Last gun? Sounds like an oxymoron to me. Sorta like good used car, Army intelligence etc.

At any rate, I'm not done. I keep saying I don't need anything more, but then some sweet little thing of walnut and blue steel catches my eye and I fall off the wagon. I figure I'll be done when the Lord taps me on the shoulder and I get my promotion. Meanwhile I'm just accumulating goodies to make my executor miserable.

Back to OP's question, though. Given up on? A K-32. I've seen exactly one in the flesh, definitely in shooter condition and still $2500. Never have seen another. I should have bought it. However, I scratched that itch with an M16-4 recently. I can't think of what else I need, errr.... "want" but I'm sure there will be something.

There is not even 1, new gun that I am the slightest bit interested in. Having said that, I might buy about anything used
if it is a killer deal. They can always be flipped or traded. Some
of the new guns on the market have very poor resale value. I
never know what my next gun purchase will be. I don't need
anything and don't need to sell anything. That is the best position
to be in. I find myself doing less hunting and more plinking and
target shooting. Buying, Trading is part of the game. When I get
a really good collector gun, I rack it. To me it's better than money
in the bank. I say as long as you enjoy it, why quit ?

A .44 Automag is my unobtainium.

Pythons just don't do anything for me. In fact, other than the SAA and, for fond memory reasons the Detective Special, Colt's don't do much for me at all. For the most part I will be keeping my eyes open for .357 K frames. I expect the only thing that will keep me from buying another gun is being dead.

They are redesigning and rereleasing the .44 Automag, so maybe not as unobtainable as you think

Grail gun for me would be one of the Swiss P-210's in 9mm. Always wanted one. But having said that I've always wanted a FN High Power. Well CDI Sales on gunbroker has a bunch of the Israeli 9mm FN High Powers. Received it last week and will get adjustable sights, get the magazine saftey removed, and maybe a couple of other things done to it. For awhile I was looking for a nice 1895Chilean 7mm mauser. But all the ones I have seen had lousey bores or bubba done got at it. So managed to pick up a Chilean modelo 1912 7mm with a beautiful bore. So for the time as least I'm done. Frank
