RIP Barbara Hale

She was never a big star but worked regularly. Born 1922 in DeKalb County, IL. I was born in same county 1942. Sadly, we never met.

I disliked Moore and her co-actors, too. Probably can't say why on this board.

If I see Ed Asner on TV, I change channels, even now.

The older stars were less likely to be involved in activities that brought Ronald Reagan out of acting and into politics.

I used to watch Perry Mason at my aunt's home in Ft. Smith on summer vacations. I was about 12. It caught on and I began watching at home, too, back in Texas. I liked Barbara Hale as Mason's secretary. The guy who played his investigator was pretty good, too.

BTW, Raymond Burr, who played Mason, was Canadian.

2017 is off to a very bad start! Soon we'll be left with self aware, no talent actors like George Clooney and his ilk.

You might think about revising your opinion of George Clooney as an actor.

I recommend watching (if you can find it) a little-seen film of his titled The American. I won't spoil it by giving plot details. I'll just say I enjoyed it.

Another film of his I'd suggest is Michael Clayton. It's a film that's beginning to be recognized as one of his best, although for me, it's a toss up as to who gives the better performance...Clooney or Tom Wilkinson as a brilliant but doomed attorney who has suffered a mental breakdown in the middle of a multi-million dollar case. I will say that I think the scene with Clooney and the three horses on the hill (with absolutely no dialogue) is a small masterpiece.

Getting back to Barbara Hale ...

She really made a career of being Della Street. (1957 to 1966, then 1985 to 1995).

I loved those form-fitting clothes the ladies all wore on Perry Mason.

RIP, Barbara.

RIP all of them. As to the Mary Tyler Moore crowd, I loved Ted Baxter!!
That character was hilarious.
To be honest, I wouldn't have known who Barbara Hale was if I didn't see her in a Perry Mason clip.
She was good, as was Perry, but it was not one of my favorite show.

Det. Paul Drake, played by William Hopper. Drake was a very cool guy.

I don't expect I'll be revising my opinion on Ol' Smiley anytime soon. Every single movie I've seen him in and that isn't all of them but it's a bunch (Miss Pam likes his smile) He has this "Look at me ain't I pretty" smirk on his face in virtually every scene be it comedy drama or what ever. Makes my teeth itch.

I know lots of people like him especially the ladies. To each his own. But I'll take a pass thanks.

William Hopper was also Hedda Hopper's son.

Perry Mason was a great show and Barbara Hale a great actress. I remember when Perry Mason came back for a while in the 80s. The first show had Della arrested for a murder. The detective in charge of the case told Della he hoped she knew a good lawyer.

RIP Della

I don't think I missed too many episodes of Perry Mason in the late fifties, because even at a young age, I was already reading the books by Erle Stanley Gardner.

And as every real TV and film fan knows, Barbara Hale hadn't always looked like a secretary. She was beautiful and talented, and lived to be ninety-four...an accomplishment in itself.

Another new star in a galaxy far, far away.

Clooney wasn't on my favorite list until I watched O'Brother, Where art thou. Especially liked his boxing scene towards the end and lip singing.
