I have a similar pistol, the Model 469. It's a solid pistol and I got a fantastic price on it so I use it as a "carry gun when I cannot carry," which is to say that when I go somewhere that carry is prohibited and I know the handgun is forced to stay in my car, the 469 is the pistol I have.

Yes, I love my S&W 1-2-3rd Gens, but this pistol fills the role of "most likely to get stolen."

I bought one at a gun show a little while ago. I am a sucker for that style of trigger guard. I bought it without a second look. I brought it home , cleaned it, then Flitzed it. That contrast between the SS slide and the alloy frame make it really stick out. No magazine, so I went to the Forum, and picked up 6, you can never have too many mags. Long story short, yes, I like mine. Should you get rid of it, only you can say. But if you ask most of the guys here, they regret selling their Smiths. Then you have to go on the hunt for the one you just sold, but hey, maybe that's part of the fun.

I've got 2. One was my EDC for several years. The other I got from a friend when he passed. He had a regular hammer put on it as he didn't like the factory bobbed hammer, wanted to be able to thumb cock it.

...OK, The question is: Is the Gen2 469/669 slide/barrel compatible with the Gen3 6904/6906 frame???

I still have my 669 that I bought new in 1985 when I retired from police work. I like the double action trigger, the hammer blocking safety AND having a visible hammer! I do wish it had better sights and would like to know if you or others have any suggestions to remedy this only shortcoming of the 669!

I don't have a 6904 or 6906 to try the swap. However, the 469/669 share a characteristic with the 645/745 in that these models (unlike the fullsize 2nd Gen 9mm pistols) have the pressed-in "fixed" barrel bushing and different looking barrel (at the muzzle end) that later appeared across the board on 3rd Gen pistols.

I would like to try the swap but I don't own the hardware to try.

If I am guessing... I would guess YES, this swap might work.

many quality older leather holster companies can still build a holster for the 669 I carry mine in a Comp-tac neutral . It works well in several Kydex bodies we have for polymer pistols . Mine is a P250c kydex body I use for a a p320c or a a wifes m&p or the s&w 669 or a a 1911 . Once the belts snugged up it stays in place well .

I hard that the 669 will aslo work in many glock 43 holster with tension adjustment .

DetectiveD have a dovetail cut into the slide for a sight thats same height as you have now if POA is spot on .

I have had a 669 for years and it is my EDC. I bought a 6906 slide and barrel and swapped it for mine. The 6906 slide had Novak style sights and I prefer them. Buying the slide and barrel was cheaper than having sights installed.
