Another run on magazines?

Is there going to be another run on 30 round +, magazines?
I'm sure, after last week, they're going to try to ban them again.
There's also a couple of bills in Congress, to ban Bump Fire stocks, BMF Activators and any trigger device, that will allow a high rate of fire.

Would be nice to have "hi cap" mags, but we're already limited to 10rd ones. Court fight going on concerning those mags that people had prior to 2000. I don't have any for my Sport II, but I had to mod a bunch for my double stack 45.

And as far as the trigger devices, they're already banned out here. So, I wouldn't be surprised to see them banned nationwide. Personally, never have been into the pseudo-auto fire mindset. When I go to the range, I would rather try to put all shots through the same hole.

i am sure there will be. I just think its coming later since we have a GOP lead house, senate and president. If it were the other way around you would have seen them triple in price by now. But i can see it coming as soon as one of the nitwits on the GOP side starts to talk about having that conversation. Fact is, this isnt' about mags, its about evil and there are already laws that prohibit evil and they don't work. Most of the lawmakers know this. But you will find a few (probably McCain) and it will start a flury of activity.

Any member of congress can file a bill regardless of whether or not it has a snowball's chance of passage.

In fact, every year since it expired, a bill gets filed to reinstate the so-called assault weapons ban and another gets filed to reinstate the ban on high capacity magazines. Nothing ever becomes of them, but they still get filed.

Don't get concerned about a bill to do this or that getting filed. Start to get concerned when it gets voted out of committee. Start to get worried when it passes a floor vote. Really start to sweat when the Senate take it up and passes it.

Until then, it's premature to run out and start buying magazines.

Same as with the bills to ban assault rifles and high capacity magazines.

Bump Stocks

I'm quite well-read on firearms matters yet I never knew bump stocks existed. The Vegas Tragedy brings up all the time-worn arguments for and against gun control. The danger of course, is that knee-jerk legislation may pass in some states such as the so-called Safe-Act passed by NY following the Sandy Hook shooting and aimed at law abiding citizens.

I've made contingency arrangements to ship my unaltered AR-15 out of the state should my state try another end-run around common sense and logic.

20 round mags for the SHTF....

10 round mags for everything else !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, to the best of my knowledge Streamlight has never made magazines, however SureFire has..................

So yes, they were SureFire magazines, and yes, they are expensive and always have been.

If my memory serves me correctly, they also had feeding problems with the SureFire mags, which was why I never bought any.

I've been wondering about this myself (but too lazy to look very hard!)
One thing I did notice though: After posting a thread here the other night asking for info on 5906 mags, I ordered 2 sale priced new 15 rounders from Midway, that a forum member kindly made me aware of.
Coincidentally, i ordered them very close to the time this shooting was taking place in LV. So, the next morning, when I was hearing all the terrible news, I checked Midway's site, and danged if those bastages didn't raise the price by about $1.75 !!! No kidding !!

The more of Mother Nature's valuable air Hillary and Nancy waste flapping their jaws the more likely a Trump second term becomes. By the time Trump is in his 7th year I expect we will be able to scrape a rancid possum off the county road then easily trade it for 2 or 3 high end AR-15s.

While I visited a local gun store yesterday one man bought a revolver, another a $1200 AR .223 made in KY and two women bought modern dinky size plastic .380s. The AR purchaser bought two extra normal capacity magazines for $15 each. The store had called in enough salesmen to handle panic buying. There were not enough customers to go around.

By the way, it warmed my heart to see the second young lady drooling over steel snub nose revolvers that she could not afford. Her 38s warmed something else.

I learned all I wished to know about bump fire stocks on the 15-22 forum. They were surprisingly popular among children wanting to play army during the .22 shortage. I got flipped off when I suggested they join up and get paid to shoot the real thing for free.

The most popular question on that forum seemed to be "Why won't it work?" The shooter in Las Vegas apparently had several jammed up and discarded on the floor when the police finally broke into the room.

If people are truly worried about restrictions being placed on magazines or any other idiotic "feel good" ideas coming out of Washington, the time to act is now, not after the congress critters have stopped talking and started to get real. I have gotten to be curmudgeonly over the years and tire of hearing, "But I couldn't afford it when they were plentiful and cheap". Get your priorities straight.

To be frank, if you hadn't been buying all you could afford over the past few months it's on you. The bottom completely fell out of the AR market. Up until the LV shooting, was the time to be buying most anything gun/ammo/reloading related.

I bought 7 more aluminum surplus AR mags at the pawn shop yesterday for 5 bucks a piece. All said "Restricted Law Enforcement/Government/Export Use Only" on them. I collect those because that writing serves as a reminder to me that we should never allow them to be made with that message stamped on them ever again.

I bought some components at an LGS yesterday (primers, powder and bullets) and I asked the guy helping me if there had been a spike in business this week.

"Nope. Pretty normal." is what he said.

I doubt it. Most of the Guys around here have already gotten as many as they want, PLUS there's a ton of them available here. I only have 5 for my Sport 2. Planned on a few more before the LV tragedy.
Got 30 H&K and 10 CETME 20rd mags, plus 3 30 rounders for the PTR and CETME I have, which if ALL were fully loaded with 7.62 would be a "chore" to carry in a "grab-go" situation.

Stripper clips are very handy items to stock and fill magazines quickly. Bandoliers are easy to carry.

Yeah, right? Not to mention those stocks would have a negative effect on your pocket book with ripping off rounds that quickly. No thanks, I'm good with my semi's.

Same here. The day before yesterday, I checked the ammo counter at one of my two favorite Wally-worlds, and all shelves were nearly full. They had tons of everything, even the stuff that typically disappears the fastest, in all different brands and sizes.

seems normal here also for the time being. Academy is out of the 40 round magpul in store but plenty online.
