I have a chance to get one of these guns. 17 is just the Gun for $800. Model 18 was $895, but they will take $700. Also have a chance to get a pretty used model 63 no dash the little 18 comes with the papers original box and tools the others are just the gun I cannot afford all of them probably just one of them which one would you choose?

What would be your 2nd and 3rd choices

What would be your second and third choices? I've heard that the model 17 is the best shooter of all of them but then I read different things so people who own them I would welcome your responses and thank you for the response is so far as much appreciated.

Attached are pics of the model 18 in the model 63 no dash

Not sure if I'm posting right on here or not that hair pictures of the model 18-3 and 63-0

Model 18-3 or 17-3

Around these parts Model 18's are pretty hard to find. Model 17's are a bit more common. If it was me I'd jump all over that 18, especially with the box etc, before someone else beats you to it and if possible put some money down on the 17.

I have all three....... a decade long process.

The 17 is the best range and hunting .22 revolver money can buy IMHO ... with the 6" barrel /sight radius

The 63 (4 or 2"???) is a great little "Kit gun" carried a lot and shot a little.... or a nice plinker in the field.......

The 18 is just a 17 with a 4" barrel...... shoots as well as a 17 but has a shorter sight radius........IMO the best "all around" of the three.... hard to beat a 4" K-frame anything....... 18,19, 15, 67.......all basicly the same gun!!!!!

Dash #s may matter......

I'd go with the 18 first ..... then the 17..... last but not least the "pretty used" 63.

Sir.
Get the Model 18. They are much harder to find. I hear that hoarders have locked up most of them.

Yes to what he says, those S&W .22 hoarders make it hard on the rest of us to find those K-22s.:)

Picked up the 18. Thanks for the advice guys. I put in some Winchester white box rounds and the gun scene have a hard time ejecting them even though the number shot is this a common problem and what kind of ammo would you recommend with this gun?

I had that same problem when I bought my 17-4 6". After further inspection I noticed that there was a slight ring inside the cylinder from what looked to be someone shooting 22 shorts in it. Similar problem to shooting 38 special in a 357 mag. You might try cleaning inside the cylinder with a 22lr brush thoroughly.

I have a pre model 18 and a model 17-3. Both are very good shooters. The 17-3 shoots a little better than the pre-18 and both have stubborn ejection of empty brass from the cheaper rounds like Remington thunderbolts. This does not seem to effect accuracy at all. Both are fun shooters.

I agree that the 18 is the best deal. I have all 3 and they're all great shooters. The 18 is the hardest to find in my area (N. CA). Then, if you're able later, pick up a model 15 then you'll have the same revolver in .22 and .38 as I do.
