Since getting this little Chic Gaylord speed scabbard from
turnerriver it has become my favorite for carrying my S&W
Model 642-1, which is my EDC.

I have tried several other grips on the 642 but always come
back to these Uncle Mike's Craig Spegel designed boot grips
that came on the 642.

I'm not crazy about Michaels old Mirage belt, but the loops on
the Gaylord are for 1 & 1/4" Max, so I have no other choice.

I do have the 1 & 1/4" $30 belt in dark brown, but I couldn't
wear it with the black Gaylord or the fashion police would get
me.

The reload in the Bianchi Speed Strip are Hornady's 38 Spl.
110-Gr FTX Critical Defense.

The knife is by Piranha. Extremely sharp!

I find this rig comfortable and comforting.

Nice holster. You need a better belt brother. Once I went to a more solid belt with a steel core my belts look better, hold the weapons tighter to my body, and just carry better.

Honestly don't even know the manufacturer of my belt. I think it's Galco....I think. It's an inexpensive gun belt that retails for about $35. I have a different and much better belt....also don't remember the name....that cost a $100 and that one is a beast. It will hold your pants up without you in them!!! But after I gained a few pounds it no longer fits comfortably. So I bought this $35 one and it's been good. Im on my second one in 4 years but only because I ripped the belt loop accidentally. Otherwise it was still a good belt.

Holster. Galco King Tuck IWB.

Gun is a G19 with 124gr Speer Gold Dot

The Mirage belt has some kind of core, probably tupperware,
and it works fine. I just don't care for the cheezy look.

I have found that higher price doesn't always equal
higher quality. Some of the gunbelts today are overly
engineered which equals higher prices, but they are
no better than the old fashioned gun belts.

I bought a Amish hand made 1 1/2" black heavy duty gun/work belt off of ebay for $31.50 shipped.
From friends that already wear them they are tuffer and thicker than belts 2X-4 times the price.

I'm not sure about old fashioned. I wasn't old enough to carry a gun until 2001. I don't know if that belt is over engineered. What I do know is it held the gun tighter to my body, was comfortable and was good at spreading the weight. With that belt I couldn't tell the difference between a 15oz sub compact single stack gun and a 40oz 1911 or a S&W 3rd gen.

This economy belt is good but not as good as that old one. First it doesn't hold the gun as tight. It's not loose but there is a difference. Second this economy belt stretches. The first one was I went from the first hole to the second without loosing any significant weight. I've had this new one about 2 months now and on the first hole my pants already starting to feel like they're sagging a little from what it felt like when new, 2 months ago, but still not enough to be comfortable on the second hole. I didn't have this problem with the original $100 belt that I wore everyday for 7 or so years. The problem I ran into with that original belt was that it was 2' wide and not many holsters have clips or loops that wide. But this wasn't a belt issue it was me not taking that into account before buying. Luckily the Galco King Tuck IWB holster works with that belt and my comfort level and carry style

By the way, I just looked and this current belt is a DeSantis not Galco

I still use my Bianchi fanny pack, with secret holster. It enables me to carry more loaded magazines, flashlight, cuffs, badge, etc.

Thanks for reminding me. I finally had a 30 year old belt just like those break the other day (leather at the fold for the buckle finally wore out) and needed to order a replacement.

For revolvers particularly, I am really liking Mike Barranti's new CCR holsters. They ride high, keep the butt tight against the body, and have retention without the use of a hammer strap or thumbreak. So far I have used one for a Chief's and for a 2-1/2" K frame. He says he is going to get them in his direct line, which should mean much shorter production time but still top quality.

LEATHER RANGERS VS NYLON WILDERNESS INSTRUCTORS BELT

The leather Ranger belts all day for comfort but the edges roll after a while & there's not a whole lot of adjustment if your wt fluctuates. The wilderness instructor belts work great & maintain the shape, plus you never know when you may need a tether for a helo extraction. Those Wilderness edges can pinch/cut if your spare tire gets over inflated, or you do a lot of sitting. :D

SPLIT THE DIFF.

I've been carrying owb for a while and decided to give iwb a try.
Just finished the iwb holster yesterday.

YOU MAY NEED A DIET IF: Your belt is long enough to play jump rope & PETA protests outside the leather supplier. ;)
I don't wear belts much anymore but tried threading the belt so the holster sits outside the pants, but inside the belt. It's secure & more comfy than against the skin. YMMV

I'll stay with my on the waistband and Ranger belt from Snubbyfan. I lost three inches in the middle and the belt still works very well. I carry a SW mdl 38 92 % of the time.

well..

My new favorite carry rig is a 640nd, Galco pancake and speed strip carrier with an Eaglestroker gun belt. I use this rig 85% of the time.

Like Phil, I have tried every grip system I could afford and still come back to the Pach's. It fills the hand and provides good control.
