New Shield shooting left.

Have been shooting handguns for over 50 years. Got a shield 9mm last year. Tight group about 2 inches to the left. It was a sight adjustment issue. There are a lot of good suggestions on this thread. I would get a rest to see if you or someone else can get tight groups with the gun as is. If you/they can, then have your sights adjusted. If someone else gets tight groups on X ring, then you need to work on grip and trigger control. Good luck.
P.S. sight in at 5 yards.

Not every person's eyes see the exact same sight picture . A gun sighted in perfectly for you may be off left , right , up or down for me.

After shooting the gun enough to become familiar with it adjust the sights to your eyes....that's why they are "adjustable" ...makes life easier.

I definitely agree.

Lots of great advice here.

At what distance are you shooting? What size is your group and how far left is the center of your group? The "Wheel of Misfortune" was made for one handed shooting and even then I don't think it is that worthwhile for detecting errors.

I posted earlier that I was shooting left with my Shield about 2" at 7 yards. Well today I got a new 2.0 Shield and it shoots pretty much spot on. Still a little left but that is because of me. (about 1/2") The grouping is good. They are both keepers. I have a set of Ameriglo I-dots coming to go on the 2.0. The trigger on the 1.0 is a little less than 7#, I estimate the 2.0 at about 5. Will put the gauge on it after a few more rounds to loosen things up.

I have printed this out and used it at the range with all of my handguns. Even tried it with a few rifles. It has proven conclusively that yes, I really do suck.......:D

Shooting left correction on the Shield

Using a laser on my Shield revealed that at the trigger break the laser showed the aim point was jumping to the left slightly. Then I ran across this article:

Free pistol shooting tips - ONE TWO method works

The tip about rotating the right hand (I shoot right handed) slightly clockwise on the grip, worked perfectly for me. No more hitting left.

I had a guy next to me at the range shooting his shield, hitting low left. Asked me to shoot it for him. Talk about pressure. I put a mag full centered on target, told him to concentrate on a smooth trigger pull. He came back toward center some, but still left.

I seem to be consistently low left with my Shield 9mm too at 5 yds, 7 yds. I just added the Hogue HandAll grip but haven't been back to the range to see if it helps; the gun feels more comfortable though (and what a bear getting that on, finally had to boil some water and drop the grip in to soften it enough to stretch it in place). I thought it was because I was doing mono-vision (right eye for distance and left eye for reading) and it was throwing me off with left eye dominance when I used the site - but I switched so that my contacts are both set for distance (and now have to carry reading glasses) and still am consistently low left with a 2 handed grip.

I bought a belt with 7 holes in it. It came with the buckle in the 4th hole. I put it on with the buckle in the 4th hole but it is too loose. Funny, it fits my brother just fine in the 4th hole.

After reading this thread I'm going to stuff some paper towels in my pants to make it snug. That's just temporary though until I can gain 10 lbs.
