I have no idea why, but I would like to have one of the .45acp caliber variants. Not only do I not own one, I've never fired one. Sad.
And I only have 45 variants. Bill

Ouch!I sold all of my 3rd Gens, cept my 5906tsw before the election and bought ARs and AKs. I was certain who would win and do a gun ban. I figured I could replace the 3rds. Now I have a bunch of depreciated rifles. Ooops, my bad.ugh.
We do.Good to hear you stuck with good investments at least TTSH. Found out much too late What I traded like the 39-2 and the Model 19 snubby are now going for big bucks! Cost new was $125 for the 39-2 in 74 and $180 for the Model 19 in 78. Talk about young and foolish! Man to think we took walnut and high polish blued steel for granted! Best hold onto my CS-9. We need a Time Machine TTSH!!!!
We have just one FFL here in MA that you can almost rely on to have a PC 2nd/3rd Gen pistol or two available for sale almost all the time. It's not your typical shop at all and I tend to stay away from the place for the sake of my dwindling sanity and financial well-being.Agree--you don't typically see either of those at your local gun store.
They come up for sale on occasion online (forum or auction site), but go for a premium.
NIB or otherwise mint/unfired 952? The market is fluid but my best real-wirld estimation is that you are looking at $2,800+ for such a package if it includes every original bit, sometimes including the white corrugated outer carton (which is where the sought-after S&W end label was applied.)
Solid 952 in perfect functioning condition but with obvious exterior wear, missing it's original aluminum PC case, no original documents or similar items? That typically starts around $1,800 and climbs with condition, who is offering it and market fluctuations.
That's for the 5-inch pistols. The 6-inch long slide re-writes the story.
Ouch!Interestingly, our anti-2A MA AG lady is keeping MSR prices very high by unilaterally banning the sale of new ones (post 7/20/16)... so the ones I own are still worth what I paid for them... and in some cases a whole lot more.

I'm assuming you mean pre-Federal AWB (i.e., pre-1994) and not pre-7/20/2006 (our latest AG-imposed ban).I do have a couple of Pre-Ban Colt ARs. I have been told that some states - Connecticut? - grandfathered the preban rifles and that I can GB them to those states for high prices.
So much for the "United" in the USA.
Yes, that would likely be exceptionally hard (and costly).A 1046 would plug an empty slot in my safe. But that will probably remain empty for a long time based on the cost and numbers out there (if any) for sale.
Either would be a tremendous PC score.Had a chance to own a 952 and passed years ago (still regret not buying it).
As for one favorite 3rd Gen its the PC9 or as some call it the Shorty 9, Fit and finish is outstanding and the Briley barrel bushing just plain neat.
So would a 457. Why I want one of those, I have no idea since I haven't shot a .45 auto-loader in a decade. Do I need a Michael Kors purse to own several?
I like that.I think the collection is based on desire. I wanted one of each alloy 9mm type single stack blue: 3904, 3914, cs9. (an example)
Double stack would be 5904, 6904. (another example)
Steel would be 5906, 6906, 3906. Etc.
I personally wanted one of each size 45. 4506, 4566, 4516, CS45.
And one of each overall type (alloy) of 9mm: 5904, 6906, 3904 (still missing) 3913, CS9. This gives me one of each size of TDA pistol.
I think it would be cool to do one each of stainless and blue of every model in one caliber. 4505, 4506, 4526, 4563, 4566, 4576, 4586, etc. That would be fun. Expensive, but this **** isn't a poor man's game.
I have a smattering of them, in the flavors I find useful, in the calibers I like to shoot. So...still need to find a 3904.
