Your 3rd Gen collection is not complete until...

Gee....I feel like such an amateur compared to youse guys.

All I want to complete my "collection" is a 3906....so I can do the alpha/omega thing and have a 39-2 and 3906 and a 59 and 5906. (I've got the 39-2, 5906, a 459 which I'm calling my '59' although my LGS just put a plain 59 in the case this week).

A BIG +1for SummitGunbroker.
If you're not .40-averse, Mark gets some of the best police trade-ins available... SiGs, HK, and of course S&W. Last I checked (about a month ago) he still had some of the CHP 4006s w the integral rail. I went for the 4013TSW because of the size and the lack of a rail, just my preference. Plus, I've already had a 4006.

As a bonus, if you're feeling a little gabby (an affliction I sometimes suffer), Mark will sit and visit w you on the phone if he's not too busy. I've logged more minutes on the phone with him than just about anyone... not counting hold-time w the cable company.

It appears that they are out-of-stock right now on the CHP 4006TSW. I emailed them today and am waiting for a reply on if/when they might be back in stock. :o I think I am finally ready to take a chance on one of these "buy-it-sight-unseen" pistols. By agreement with the good wife, I'll have to sell one of my other .40's, but I'm ready to do that too. :)

I want CS9 and CS45...just because I like the size. My 3913's are plenty small for all day comfy carry, and the chief specials might actually be less comfy due to thicker width (?)....but I just love them. Seems to go on auction sights around $450+. The mags are crazy expensive though. Also want a 4506!

Your 3rd Gen collection is not complete until... (fill in the blank). :D

until....I run out of discretionary funds?

A 356TSW is the first that comes to mind.

Right now, my short list is a 3906 and a 5906 mostly ANIB. and a CS40 and a 1066.

I don't know if it can ever be complete until I have one of each.

I think I'm going to end up being like the old cat lady, except with third gens.

With the massive number of 3rd Gen variations, I'd say it is close to impossible for a poor old fool like me to have one of every model. I'm not trying for that! :D I'll be more than happy when I have at least one 3rd Gen representative of each caliber, size, finish, action, and major or notable feature or variation. :)

I've never seen that term before........but I thinks that describes me;).........because the only "plan or theme" I have is.......can I shoot it well?..and is it a killer deal?.....is that a plan?:D
It is actually! :D Congratulations! You're now officially a "collector"! :)

The problem is that if I tried to use your plan, I'd get nowhere. :o I don't believe that true "killer deals" exist in my area... or if they do, they are certainly very few and far between. :( Best I think that I can ever hope for around here is a "mildly attractive" deal or at least "not an overpriced" deal. Killer deals??? Fuhgeddaboudit!!! :p

My collection will be complete...when they no longer become affordable.

I just buy them as they present themselves, I could never buy them all.

I was wondering about the definition of a "3rd Gen Collection" size wise. It seems like it could be HUGE to have one of each.

Yes, it would. :( That's why I use the word "representative" of each caliber, size, finish, action, and major or notable feature or variation. :)

Not including some of the recent agency special orders that have shown up, I count 145 production 3rd Gens and 67 PC 3rd Gens. That's more than I can get in my safes even if I had just one of each (i.e., no duplicates, triples, quads, etc.). :o

Thanks for the count, at my age I'll never get there, just my .22's take up a bunch of space but I think they are my favorites. I have some 9mm but sadly only 1 45 ACP, a 4516-2 which my friends always select from the other 45's to shoot at the range. My 645 seems to take second place even over the Gold Cup.

Those counts are only the 3rd Gens of course, but it does include the late .22 LR pistols as well. What it doesn't include is some unknown number of 3rd Gen PC special orders (like the infamous "Ultimate 1006" pistol)... so you'll never really know for sure if you have every variation possible. :D

Is there a list of those 145 anywhere?

Maybe someone has a direct link to the below? It was sourced from this forum.

I used the latest version of the famous skjos list from my files. I see (above) that there is now an even later version with more 3rd Gens added. :)
