Hello there,
I was a member a few years ago and seen how CPTBeaker made the Delrin Dust Cover for his M&P22. I finally got around to making my own so wanted to share in case anyone wants to make their own as well. I find mine to be easier and simpler to make and you don't need springs or a magnet to hold it closed.

It is still in the rough cut stage for fitting. I ended up taking out the spring and is now held closed by gravity. The great thing it is awesome for left hand shooters as the door has weight so the brass is reflected down.

It is held on for now with the 3m tape. I plan on using plastic glue with the final form. The pins are finishing nails with the head holding them in. I did have to cut them down to 3/4" on both sides.

Looks like he left his rifle too close to a fire and it started melting. I definitely would not glue it on if it were my rifle because it goes against everything I believe to do something to a gun that will destroy any resale value.

WELCOME TO THE BUBBA ZONE.

I try to keep em stock. :( Unfortunately I fail, quite often. I've been an incurable tweaker (back when "tweaker" meant something else), most of my life. I can usually find a way to Improve upon those manufacturing engineer dummies. NO DOUBT your design works great, it would, on the other hand make some people crazy. :)

not my cuppa java, but if it trips your trigger? more power to ya! peace

I don't think I would want a dust cover on a 15-22, but kudos to you for your DIY engineering.

I would like to see the final product and a video of it in action. :)

There's a reason the production dust cover of a few years ago disappeared ... it was a solution in search of a problem. It was unnecessary and generally useless on a 15-22.
