CCW gun?

Time for a poll.

What is your CCW handgun? Do you compete with it
?
Factory loads, or homemade?

Out of 60 posts looks like only about 3 do or have shot competition with their CCW ..
( 5% )

One of the old guys I shoot with carries a G19.. No matter what the local match is ,, steel challenge ,, USPSA ,, speed steel,, GSSF,, etc.. he uses the G19. And he is darn good with it,, and really hard to beat..

Light = Glock 43, Truglo Sights, Hyve +2 Mags, Cook's Kydex IWB 98%
Heavy =Kimber Master Carry Pro 45, Haley Strategic Incog IWB 2%

I carry my 1972 Python 2.5" in a Desantis Speed Scabbard OWB concealed about 99% of the time. The other 1% is a '68 Detective Special.

The Python is loaded with homebrew magnums of 140gr XTPs over 15gr of 2400. The DS is loaded with factory 147gr Hydra-Shok +P specials.

I don't compete, but practice for combat shooting.

It sure seems like revolvers are falling to the wayside, especially medium or large framed revolvers. I don't think I could rely totally on a J frame, as I'm leery of just my Detective.

Most of the time M&P 380 bodyguard in a DeSantis pocket holster loaded with federal hydra shoks

when I open carry, S&W model 10-8 4" bull barrel in a DeSantis OWB thumb break holster hiking down the trails, the outdoor shooting range, hunting, etc. Hornady critical defense 110gr or Hornady 125 gr xtp's.

I might have shot one or two rounds through this old, early Gen 1 Kimber, shooting USPSA, and other gun games, as well as using it for a work gun and off duty/teaching gun.

The breach face really tells the story, as does the magwell.

It actually once had a beautiful blued finish on it.

:)

The old, early Kimbers were/are exceptional 1911s. Later versions were were "hit and miss" quality control wise, but my old one still shoots exceptionally well, even after the high round count. It takes a back seat only to my Les Baer in the accuracy department.

EDC = 340PD and for very deep concealment, Taurus TCP .380.

I'm partial to an RPG, but singed haired women standing on the backside tend to become perturbed.

Sig P239 .40 S&W. But I very rarely carry.

Carry every day. For when I can take the risk of printing - Walther PPS IWB. For when I can NOT print- Ruger LCP or 442-1 pocket carry. And for when I want something bigger - either Walther P99AS or M&P 357.

638. All the time, unless I am somewhere that I can't carry for legal reasons and then it is replaced by a samsung smart phone.
I had a first year centennial that I carried for years and never got over wishing I had the option of a single action shot, but always appreciated the lack of the hammer spur when pulling it out of concealment. This little humpback airweight is ugly to some but pure beauty to anyone that appreciates it for more than it's looks. The best, for me, for sure.

I have carried a model CS 45 for over 20 years. I always carry the same pistol, and am totally familiar with it. I do not advocate switching or rotating carry guns.

442 with Win.125grn +p...or LCP with 90grn XTP's...everyday.

If I can hide a bigger gun GP100/ 686 / Glock 17....

Just retired (sold) my Shield 9mm in favor of a Ruger LC9s. A touch smaller, better trigger and around 3 ounces lighter.

My carry gun depends on how I'm dressed and/or my activities. For the most part it'll be my 642-2 or my 4" mod 10-8 38spl.

Summer M1908 colt in .380, it's 105 years old this year. Winter, Colt M1911 in a shoulder holster. It's 100 years old this year. I shoot both on a regular basis. Looking for an old S&W M36 to carry.
