MY GARDEN IS PROTECTED !

This is Sandy Cuddles in her little pink frilly harness. She likes strutting around in it.

Her Sister Sara Snuggles does not like harnesses and crouches down and will not move if you put one on her.

Our Natayo on the other hand looks at wearing a harness as an opportunity to go outside and will even put up with a leash.

red, it's hard to believe table scraps are bad for dogs. every dog i've had
got all the left overs a family could generate.
it makes them happy.
That's definitely what I've always done too. But with Logan, both my regular vet and the emergency hospital where his spinal surgery was done warn that he could have more pancreatitis attacks. So for this dog, at least, I'm going along with it. Especially since it cost $900 in fluids and tests to save his life from the first attack a couple of months ago...I don't want to tempt fate. Our other dog is the same breed and he's been fine with whatever I give him, but no fatty foods either for him just in case.

drifter isn;t sick, she hunts for 3 hours, morn n eve.
plus, when it's cool enow for me to enjoy my garden, i ask her if she wants to come.
she says no. but just as i get settled out there with my book, i see her in the window, so, i have to get up n open the door.
she doesn;t want cuddles. she just likes being within 5-6 yards of me.
if i go to the other end of the garden, she magically appears there, pretending to be about cat business.
i think she spends enow time outdoors to be fit.

anyway, yesterday, i saw her way out in the pasture, maybe 120 yards. this is bad, she can be seen out there, unlike in the scrub.
plus, if attacked that far from the house, all she could do is die.
if surprised close to the garden, she could make a quick dash over the wall, but she would lose a chase/

so, i opened the door n screamed STUPID CAT.
She took this to mean ''come here'', so she broke into a gallop/
since she doesn't run in a straight line, she probably ran 150 yards, fast/
a sick cat couldn't do that.

I have two feral cats that I feed. One of them sleeps on the front porch but won't let you get near it. Both show up in the afternoon to eat but run around the rest of the time. So far they have avoided the coyotes but I have lost tame cats to them. I guess they don't let anything get near, that's how they stay alive. They have been around for almost a year now.

I'm glad that Drifter is feeling well and hoping that she doesn't spend too much time in the area where she has no "cover". I guess you don't have too much control over that, though. But at least, she came when you yelled stupid cat, so she does respond to you [emoji4] Hopefully she will stay safe [emoji175]

in some ways, i'm lucky.
neither cat goes on the counters. neither likes human foods except for raw meat.
drifter comes to call every time. this is priceless.
she won't come to call inside, but that's not important.
in fact she can balk at the foot of the stairs/ so i have to coax her in.
even if she's carrying a huge rat, she comes, lugging it over the fence.
coming to call is her best quality .
this makes me happy n keeps her safe.
it makes me love her.
but, i'm having no luck at all training cuddles.
i try not to call him unless he's hungry, but he's clearly feeding himself.
he was born n raised in the house. he likes it fine in here.
he comes in by himself when he feels like it.
but, he doesn't come to call.
if anyone has some tips on training him to come to call, i'd sure like to hear them.
might save his life, someday.

My kitties all came to call but they were inside only and they heard the can opener going in the kitchen for mealtime. I'm not sure how to do it for indoor-outdoor kitties. Maybe one of the other thread-friends can help you out... I'm glad drifter does come to call though. I don't know if her traits and training will rub off on Cud, just by observation. They seem to have very different personalities. You might find something on you tube but your situation is unique and neither of your kitties is dependent on you for food... They can catch their own. Maybe he will be more responsive when the weather changes and outside"food" is less plentiful. Good luck and let us know. (maybe something very special and tasty will lure Cuddles to your call?)

when cud comes in with drifter, they both get pate, which is their treat .
he comes in a couple times/day, just not when i call.

in other ways, he is much tamer than drifter. i can pick him up in the garden, i can even carry him around.
drifter won't allow that. outside, she won't let me get that close.

It certainly sounds like you're doing a great job with both of them! Keep up the good work [emoji175][emoji4]

drifter never has forgotten her feral youth,
cud always sleeps like a log,
but drifter has nightmares.
when we watch movies, she falls asleep between my legs.
sometimes, a monster comes to get her. she wakes n flees in terror.
this cuts up my legs pretty good, but i can't punish this.
she would never scratch me on purpose, with her front claws.
but she uses her back claws for traction when escaping demons.

i thot i was gonna write an obituary this morn.
cuddles went out at 10am yesterday.
wasn't around at noon.
by 2pm i started calling.
called every couple of hours/
by dark i figured he was dead.

he showed up at 4am.
he wasn't tired, so he got a nap in the garden .
wasn't very hungry either, so he fed himself.
i have no idea where he's been. the worthless thing
could have been 50 yards away, since he doesn't come to call.
more likely, he was roaming far afield.

this is very sad, cud is no drifter.
if this becomes a habit, he dies.

i see no way to keep him alive.
his job is outside.
plus, he would hate being kept in.
