I like Sonic, and probably hit the drive thru once a month.

The food at local Sonics is pretty good. I don't have a problem with Sonics.

Nope. I went for the Super Sonic Double Bacon Cheeseburger with tots and a Dr. Pepper. I was good too.

One of the very few places you can still get a Chocolate malted milkshake. We had two but they closed one doe to lack of business but the other is still going strong (Location) has a lot to do with it.

So your vehicle can smell like fast food for three days.
When my mother was still alive she loved to go there and since she had mobility problems we'd use the car hop or the drive window. I'd be sure to get every bag, napkin and fallen fry out of my truck and it would still smell like cheap grease for several days. That or the grease was seeping out of my skin.

Locally, the drive through window gives you another place to be ignored by giggling teenagers. I was just in Cincinnati and on Reading Road, but I missed the root beer place, I will have to look for it next time.
Because we didn't have enough crappy fast food in my town, someone decided to open a Sonic a couple of years ago. I've traveled through the south enough to know what the food is like, but apparently the curiosity factor was strong for most people.
The place was jammed for the first several weeks. Enough so that they had to set up a special lane in the shared parking lot so cars could get through.
Now, it's not all that busy at all. Everyone has apparently had their fill of greasy, mediocre tasting hamburgers.
Sadly, despite several opening in various parts of the state, no one has thought to open a Chik Fil A in my town. I have to drive about 30 minutes to get to the closest one.
Of course, it's worth it.

When I go to Sonics, I don't use the drive-in, but use the walk up menu and sit at a table. I prefer not to make a mess in my car.
I forget exactly where it is, but I think it was just a few blocks south of the intersection with Kemper.

Sonic's in the Southwest are awesome. Especially the Onion Rings Ang Grilled Cheese.

Sonic has some food that is OK and some that is not but the best thing is their ice. I'm an ice cruncher and I love that their ice is very small and fine. I don't ever remember paying for a cup of water in any nice restaurant but I will stop by the Sonic drive thru almost every day on my long drive home from work in the hot summer and buy a cup of ice water. A 44 ounce cup of excellent tasting filtered water in a styrofoam cup is about 63 cents and I'm glad to pay it when the temp is near 100 degrees out. If it's "half price happy hour" I might get a diet cherry limeade but those are a little hard on my acid reflux.

Sonic has drive thru because some of them are so poorly run, that people who want their food hot, will pick it up and re-heat it at their house..as is the case with the one closest to me..
It's a shame really, they would have so much more business if they could figure out a way to put this simple(?) hot food theory into practice.
