Worst beer?

Not an especially bad beer; but do any of you remember Old Frothingslosh("The Pale Stale Ale With The Foam On The Bottom") by Iron City? We used to buy it as a joke but as I remember it was decent!

There've come to be so many micro-brews I can't find a reason to drink name-brand beer.

I live in a town with a year-round population of 30 souls. Both bars here have taps with great local brews.

I must say I don't understand micro-breweries' propensity to engage in the "hops war." A good IPA has enough hops to let you know they're there. I got nothin' for a too-hoppy brew so that's my answer to the OP's question.

I never understood "acquired taste" thing either.

Back in the day Schlitz. I haven't tasted a beer in years that I liked.

I can't remember the last beer I could finish. :D

I wish they made PBR now like they did 50 years ago. Loved the stuff.

Most beer is rather nasty, but I don't drink much. I guess I never understood the 'acquired taste' thing. Why would I want to?

I drank some back in the day, most guys on the job did so after work(some during :D).
I couldn't stand the taste of any of it, just nasty, so got over that phase of my life quickly.

Remember it well. Came out about the same time as this, which was also epically bad at $1.69 a six pack. The grocery store I worked at finally sold both for 99 cents, and I think we ended up tossing a couple flats of each.
My brother used to collect beer cans and bottles. I think he still has one unopened can of Billy Beer. He said it tasted like carbonated pea-water.

I'll second the IPA comment. I really can't understand the obsession with IPA's. It seems that most bars/restaurants with decent beer menus are at least 3/4 IPA's. Haven't found one I'd order again.

One I used to really enjoy that I haven't seen in years is San Miguel Dark. Not sure if its still made. Its been so long since I've had one I'm not sure how it would stack up against some of the newer craft beers. Locally, Four Peaks Brewery makes a Scottish Ale called Kilt Lifter that isn't half bad.

All IPA's tend to taste the same to me. It's all HOPS! HOPS! WE NEED MORE HOPS!!!

I think a REAL brewer, making REAL beer, is a maltsman first and a hopsman a distant second, and above all else, a balanceman.

Back in the mid 60's is when I discovered beer and Louisville was home to several breweries. Sterling, Oertels 92 and Falls City come to mind quickly Most were considered redneck swill but my crowd mostly all drank Falls City cause we were hardcore rebels doncha know. :o

After the first couple they were all good and I agree with Caj on fishing beers. Busch, Old Milwaukee, Keystone and Milwaukees Best were usuals depending on what was on sale.

My least favorite beer is from Iron City Brewing.

It was a free six pack. It didn't make it any better.
