Pocket Carry

I carry a 442 in my pocket every day. Most days a second one is in my waist.

Out of curiosity, when I look at your photo, it looks like you may have hit the takedown lever / thumbpiece with a file on that bottom pointed edge. Is that true? Or is that just wear? I just did mine cuz the last time I had tamers on mine it would draw blood frequently from my right thumb. I just ordered another set because I like them in every other regard and I just filed a little on mine. I gave my old set to my Mom to put on her gun....

I like the boot grips. They feel good, but the gun is harder to hold onto during recoil and my right thumb is sometimes in the way of my trigger finger at the rear of the press because it's so much closer to the trigger.

I was pocket carrying some at church but then I started to use my tuckable holster AIWB and like it very much so I may not have to pocket carry any longer. We'll see.

I like your plan of doing both though....

And oh yeah, that was the other thing, I had to modify the boot grips to handle speedloaders.. You can see the filing in that pic too.

Even a J frame tends to peak out of my Levi pockets, I can carry one in some of the Docker type pants though. A Ruger LCP disappears in my Levis though.

I pocket carry my 340pd every day at work. I wear scrubs. On occasion I pocket carry my NAA pug .22mag or a colt mustang pocketlite. The 340pd is my favorite pocket carry so far and pairs well with my 327pc that hides in my backpack.

It must be wear I didn't file it. The original Boot Grips on one of them was filed before I changed them.

I'll start by saying that I like pocket carry, and carry that way at least 50% of the time. My daily life doesn't have me thinking that I need 13rds of 9mm in my carry piece, just lucky I guess ;) YMMV. 6 or 7 rounds of 32 or 380 is plenty of protection for me in my usual routine. That said, I don't stick guns with single action triggers in my pockets, period. So that pretty much rules out the striker fired and Colt clone 380's for me. That leaves me with DAO guns, and having grown up shooting revolvers I'm a-ok with that.

Plenty of good options for DAO pocket carry, any of the shrouded hammer J frames will do. Though I find them to print more than autos unless in an overly large holster - which defeats part of the purpose of pocket carry for me. My main two carry guns are a Seecamp 32 and a Remington RM380. The Seecamp is always pocket carried, the RM380 only part of the time. The Remington in my opinion is the finest 380 on the market right now. If you can shoot DAO guns, then you'll have zero problems with it. It is light, flat, has a decent enough set of sights (for a pocket gun), a smooth consistent trigger pull, and mine has been utterly reliable. It even has a checkered front strap, and still can be found for under $300! The only reason it doesn't spend more time in my pocket is because it is so easy to IWB carry in a kydex holster. The Seecamp is a piece of art, and I like to carry it, but it is heavy for what it is, and the lack of sights really limits its abilities.

I pocket carry. The gun is almost always one of these two - a 442 or a 642. Both are equipped with Barami Hip Grips. They slip easily into my jeans' front pocket; the lip on the right grip keeps them from slipping down. The grip is above the pocket line. Shirt-tail out, they become invisible, yet instantly accessible. When my mode of dress rules this place of carry out, an ankle holster also works. These are very light guns. .38 Special +P.

I pocket carry a 642, a Shield 9 or a RM380, depending on the circumstances. All conceal well in an appropriate holster (Galco horsehide for the 642, DeSantis Nemesis for the Shield, and either a Nemesis or an Uncle George for the Remington). The Uncle George "prints" as a wallet and is my fall back for "dress" occasions where lighter fabrics and physical contact are involved.

Sure, I'd rather carry a full size .45, five reloads and 2 BUGs, but that's not always possible. (The guy who invents a sarcasm font will get my business).

I like the S&W 442 or even that RM 380 if they fixed that pin falling out during cleaning.

I'm curious what brand and model holster is your aiwb?

Good article from Lucky Gunner.

I have carried a J Frame and Keltec P32 as pocket carry in the past. Pocket carry is convenient, but sometimes inaccessible, such as when often sitting. Suggest thinking carefully before making it a primary or exclusive mode.

When I'm going to the seated position say in a vehicle I simply hang the butt of the revolver out of the top of my jeans pocket and it is quickly accessible, my shirt covers it and when I stand up the revolver always slips back in the holster all by itself since the muzzle stays inside the top of the holster when it's positioned
this way. This has worked for me while driving for many years.

I have pocket carried slightly larger pistols. A Ruger LC9s and a CZ Rami. The Ruger is pretty nice for pocket carry because it's very thin and light in weight. The CZ is much heavier and thicker, but is doable in certain pants. I use the same holster for both - a DeSantis Nemesis.

I haven't been pocket carrying lately, but I probably will again. It works for me.

I can carry my LC9 in a Galco pocket holster in most of my pants. A few pairs have pockets that are too small - especially jeans - but most are big enough to work just fine.

I mostly only pocket carry at home, because although the LC9 fits completely in my pocket, it prints pretty obviously in most pants.

never have even tried a revolver... small carry is Ruger LCP, Taurus TCP, Taurus PT111 G2, FEG PA-63... all work well in pocket or holster... key to concealed carry is of course a mix of access and cover... if either of those fail, you lose...
