The Peach State! GA!!!
Hopefully by Friday afternoon. That'll give me time to rig a extension cord for the air conditioner, etc. Why? Easy! I done bought myself another S&W! Yeah boy!

I was minding my own business when I accidentally on purpose blundered into a local pawn shop. They had a nice little nickel plated S&W 15-4 on the wall. Price was of course obscene. I feigned disinterest in that little gem by looking at a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington. Nice rifle. JM stamped. Talked the manager down a bit on the price of the rifle. While dickering about the 336, I asked to look at the S&W. Oh boy! Pinned barrel. Factory nickel. Magna grips number to the gun. No rust, etc. Slick nickel. Dirty (good ... make bargaining easier). Pre-timed on all the charge holes. No nicks or dents. So ... he looked one way and I looked another way and we had a meeting of the minds. How's $325 OTD sound? Wonderful to my ears.

Just finished cleaning it up. Thrilled. Hasn't been fired enough to even leave marks on the ejector rod. Beautiful revolver! Needed it like a hole in the head! I've been saving about a dollar a day for a little over a year just waiting to buy a .38/.357 that I could afford that was not dogged out, beat up or victimized by a kitchen table gunsmith. Now, as soon as I can figure out how to do it, I'm going to take pictures with my very excellent cell phone camera and post them here for all to see! Serial number is 26K1XXX. Marked w/ the N that S&W uses on their nickel plated guns. Just a pretty little thing. Got a box of ammo w/ it . . . Armscor 158 gr. FMJ. It'll be at least next Monday before I can get to the range. Bummer! But, between now and then ... I'll be getting to know this new to me S&W a little bit better! Sincerely. bruce.

Sounds like a nice catch, and I'm sure your charm will keep you in the house. :)

Post some pics when you can.

Now you need to start saving for that .357. Might as well save up for a dog, too - it's a shame to waste a good dog house after you're released.

Nice story, but why do you need a dog house?

Why? Why ask "Why?" I am a man. I am married to my wife who is the CFO of our household. I have trusted her to handle our finances since 1979. I usually always check with her before spending a bit of money. Today ... I just bought the revolver w/o any fiddling around trying to get her on the phone, etc.

Very likely she will be fine with this little purchase. However, I am a man. I have to be prepared! So ... I'm lining up a dog house, etc. Actually w/ a decent air conditioner, it'll be fine! I'll put the little dorm type refrigerator outside on a chair. That way I'll have cold Cokes to go with my potato chips! That little 15-4 will be safely ensconced in a nice little Uncle Mikes holster I had lying idle in a drawer. What's not to like! Sincerely. bruce.

Well, I presumed as much, but you were not specific.

In that case, it is always better to ask for forgiveness than permission

Does she like purses? I buy my wife purses. Then when she gets buyers remorse from her buying shoes- I tell her, seems fine to me.
I dont have a leg to stand on with all my guns.
Then she asks how much do I have in guns, and I quickly change the subject.....

You're lucky. If I go out and buy a new gun, I have to get one for my wife, too. Now I just assume I'll have to double the price of any deal I get just to keep the Mrs. happy...

Have no idea if I paid a good price or not. Haven't let myself look at anything for a long time other than ammo. Normally I drive right on by pawn shops and gun stores. Just to much temptation! Kinda thought I'd just look around and next thing you know ... boom baby! Got a new pistol! Haven't had a nickel plated S&W since I was in seminary (1979-1982). That was a four inch Model 19. Pretty thing! Gave it to my father. Thought he deserved a good pistol and that S&W was the best gun I owned. Sincerely. bruce.

As I see it, TRUE men are born to buy guns. It's not how many you've got, it's how many you WANT that's the heart of the matter. Buying that gun eases the desire until it shows up again. Then the cycle continues. Just don't flaunt it in your wife's face and you'll be just fine. A dinner out and a new pair of shoes will make everything equal again.

Re: Making things right. I've not bought a whole pile of guns. My accumulation is actually rather modest. And I've always tried to make sure that I don't use family money for such things. If at all possible I try to get the money by selling something that I no longer need/want, etc. And, I try to always put aside the same amount or more to use for my wife. It's not enough. But I do try. Truth is, she'll not be to steamed when I get her on the phone and tell her about the pistol. Fact is, last S&W I bought was b/c she pulled into a pawn shop where I'd been eying a 19-3 for several months. She'll understand. This revolver is just plain pretty! That'll go a long way to her understanding. :-) Sincerely. bruce.

Nice story, but where's the pics?!

I'm going to have to do pictures tonight. Right now I have to get everything ready for meeting of the board tonight at Church. It's a big deal. Lot of little details to attend to. When I get home ... maybe about 8 pm or so, I'll take pictures.

Need to ask ... how do you get pictures onto this site? Sincerely. bruce.

P.S. Anybody got any idea what year this revolver was produced? Sincerely. bruce.

My misses had no clue everything looks the same till she found my log book. Then I was in the dog house and the dog was on my side of the bed till the next few days, they get over it.

How can anyone pass up the nickel guns. They are so purdy.

I can safely say I have never had a problem bringing home a Smith & Wesson. My wife collects Savage and Stevens Arms. She's been know to come home with a shotgun or a rifle on occasion. We have a couple of gun shops that call here and we guess who they are calling. We will be celebrating 50 years together this September.
