I started out wanting to get one Pre War large frame HE in each of the "standard" American calibers offered. I now have a .44 Special Triple Lock, a .45ACP M1917, a 38/44 Outdoorsman, and a .357 NRM.

I think now I need a .455....and then a_____, and another_____..........:D

Heavy emphisis on pre war K frames, but my friend had a 99% in its original numbered box, 38-44 Outdoorsman,so I bought it. Followed by a real nice 38-44HD, then stumbled onto a 1921 44HE Target. I may be hooked. Period ammo for these revolvers is non existant and I do collect ammo to go with my guns. Big Larry

Contact RTG ammo in Texas. Ray has some very hard to find ammo in stock, and if he knows what you need he will do his best to help you find it.

Addicted to the love ?
The first handgun I ever fired was a 1917 , 45 acp in military half moon clips , at an oil filter my Uncle had set at the base of a tree.
He shot 3 times and missed , I shot 3 times , hit every one and fell smack dab in love with those big revolvers .
I'm a fan too,
Gary

I know how this goes... you will need each of the standard barrel elngths in each of the calibers... and then a nickel version in each caliber and anickel version in each barrel length and.... I think I'm probably on the same page with you.
But then you need one each in display condition and one each in shooter condition.

Regards,
Bruce

Ray and I are good friends. He did manage a box of Rem. High Speed 38-44 ammo for me, but that was all he had. Good for me, the box was period 1940 and my Outdoorsman was shipped in 1940.
Ray is one heck of a guy, and will go out of his way to help you. Thank you Sir. Big Larry

I picked up this pre-war box of .357 from Ray earlier this year.

How about a commercial version of the 1917.

I am only aware of the above since I stumbled upon one this past weekend. Research seems to indicate only1,200 of the commercial 1917 were manufactured by S&W.
